Insider Tips

With the Philippines being a predominantly Catholic country, it would not be unusual to come across locals who do the "Sign of the Cross" when passing by any Catholic church
Situated in the city’s entertainment district, this Manila hotel is a place to see and be seen. A landmark hotel with award-winning restaurants and celebrity-packed bars, the 332 guestrooms and suites ensure your every comfort. The top floor Club Lounge offers a breathtaking view over the urban cityscapes, whilst the gardens and pool provide a tropical oasis in the heart of the city. For leisure time, visit nearby Ayala Museum, the island fortress of Corregidor or the walled city of Intramuros.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Difficulties to get Halal Food This hotel is certainly not a hotel for Muslim tourist. They serve quite a lot of dishes containing pork from breakfast to dinner. April 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 3 Fantastic Stays From the minute you are greeted by the doorman, it becomes apparent why this hotel is still such a firm favourite. Gracious and classic service that has been established and honed over the years. From the lobby staff, through to the housekeeping and restaurant servers there is an enthusiasm and desire to please, with training to match. Perhaps most notable are the exceptional concierge staff. Globally Intercontinental pride themselves on their concierge. But here in Manila, they have the best of the best. Mayumi and her team go out of their way to ensure they track down those hidden gems in the city, be it a foodie tour guide, a table at an impossibly busy restaurant, in my case even an out of hours suitcase repairer and professional camera store. Guests staying on the Club floors are treated to a truly exceptional breakfast buffet, with complimentary a la carte options. Great views from the club lounge, and a dedicated team of Club Intercontinental staff. The evening cocktails served on the 14th floor are an upmarket highlight to the stay Rooms are very well appointed with high end linens, towels and toiletries. The only criticism of an otherwise exceptional property is the service at Jeepney Restaurant can be a little chaotic and confused. This may be because the restaurant operates both buffet and a la carte in tandem, or just that during my stay there was a lot of junior staff under training. The hotel was built at a time when Makati space was at less of a premium than it is now , and consequently the gardens play host to very large ( and very deep) swimming pool and adjacent shallow children pool. It is unusual for a city centre hotel. The location is extremely convenient. In a city where traffic jams can equal those of Bangkok, its location adjacent to the Glorietta and SM shopping Malls, and a short walk from the boardwalk style restaurants at Greenbelt are a real plus This is a hotel that is very aware that it is competing against newer, and seemingly more opulent properties, and goes the extra mile to provide an exceptional level of service, and real value for money at the luxury end of the market. I have stayed here 3 times in recent months, for over 20 nights in total and have no reason to look elsewhere for a great hotel when in Manila. April 28, 2015
