Ten minutes cab drive from the hotel, Itaim Bibi, is a neighborhood well known for the amount and variety of good restaurants. * Paulista is how people born in São Paulo State are called.

INSIDER TIPS

LOCAL CULTURE

Weather

During the same day you can experience different weather sensations. We kindly advise our guests to bring long sleeves shirts and an umbrella to avoid any surprise. Get prepared to face the four seasons of the year in a single day so bring a coat and an umbrella.

Tipping

Brazilians are not used to tipping. Usually a proper tip for a good service would be 10% on your total restaurant amount. Many places do not add the tip on your bill. Nevertheless, if you had a good level of service, it is kind to pay for it.

Dress code

São Paulo city hosts many attractions for all tastes and pockets. Get prepared for every kinds of events. As Paulista Avenue is located just one block away from the hotel, you will find the most different fashion styles strolling around this important avenue or just chatting over a cup of coffee.

A true breakfast from São Paulo

The most authentic way to start your day in São Paulo city is heading to the nearest bakery and order your coffee with milk and your baked bread with butter, mostly appreciated by people from São Paulo.

Leisure options

Watch a Sunday morning mass at São Bento monastery with peaceful Gregorian songs. We advise you to arrive early to guarantee a seat for you. Our concierges highly recommend that you visit Girondino Café, a very traditional cafeteria just across the street. Sao Paulo offers several leisure options, such as Praça Benedito Calixto, or the MASP on Sundays and its street fairs with pastel and sugar cane juice and exotic fruits can be found from different countries. There is always an interesting Brazilian culture exhibition at the Oca Museum inside Ibirapuera Park.

DID YOU KNOW ?

Capital of Gastronomy

São Paulo is widely recognized as an international capital of gastronomy. The city holds incredible restaurants from all cultures and nations where you can enjoy some delectable dishes. Our concierge team, members of Les Clefs d'Or, will be very glad to help you choose the right spot to go to.

Japanese Community

São Paulo has the biggest Japanese community in the world outside Japan. The Japanese neighborhood is quite close to the hotel and it has an open air market on Sundays, very interesting to visit.

Drizzle land

São Paulo is known as the "Rainy City" because in the old days it used to rain every day at the same time. Nowadays, it has changed, but the nickname is still popular in famous national songs.

São Paulo Municipal Market

Twenty-five thousand people visit the São Paulo Municipal Market per day.

Salami Sandwiches

A thousand unities of salami sandwiches are sold per day at the Municipal market.

WHAT TO PACK

Clothes

Even during summer we recommend to pack a jacket and some long-sleeve shirts. The winter can be harsh, but you should also have a light jacket, in case the temperature becomes moderate and bring an umbrella. The weather in Sao Paulo is tropical and very unpredictable. As you will probably visit São Paulo parks, do not forget to bring a comfortable fitness outfit and your camera to register beautiful views of our skyscrapers.

Shoes

To walk around the city, it would be better if you have light clothes, with comfortable shoes or trainers. If you are looking for some great experience in the city's restaurants some classical shoes are highly appreciated.

Umbrella

The weather in São Paulo is very unpredictable so we strongly advise you to take an umbrella always with you.
