Must See

No visit to Albany is complete without a trip to the historic New York State Capitol Building, which has served as the seat of government for the state of New York since the 1880s. Art enthusiasts, meanwhile, will appreciate the vast collection of art and historical objects depicting life and culture of New York’s Upper Hudson Valley from the seventeenth century to the present.

What's New

Colonie Center, a major shopping mall with over 100 specialty shops, is a must-visit while traveling in Albany. It’s home to the first L.L. Bean retail store in the state of New York, a food court and more. Crossgates Mall, with more than 180 shops and restaurants, is also worth the trip.

Sports buffs may want to catch a game at the University of Albany, home to a variety of NCAA men’s and women's athletic programs. Basketball anyone? The Albany Great Danes basketball team plays home games at the SEFCU Arena. Autumn Saturdays mean one thing: football at the Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey football stadium.

Must Do

Plan the perfect cultural outing: experience the New York State Museum by day and the Palace Performing Arts Center by night. The museum, which serves as Albany’s primary center for the arts, sciences and history, is the oldest and largest state museum in the country. The Palace Performing Arts Center hosts an array of entertainment, from ballet and theater to classical music and movies.
