Whiteface Memorial Highway
The road to the 4,867 foot high summit, the 5th highest in New York, was dedicated by Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt, in 1929, and opened, in 1936. Along the way up are nine designated spots where you are encouraged to stop to enjoy the view and discover more about the mountain surroundings from the posted information signs. Visitors have the option of taking the elevator to the top or climb the laid out rock path. Open mid June-mid October.
Olympic Training Center

The U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid opened in November of 1982.
Sports most frequently training in Lake Placid include biathlon, bobsled, figure skating, ice hockey, luge, skiing and speed skating. In addition, boxing, canoe and kayak, judo, rowing, synchronized swimming, taekwondo, team handball, water polo and wrestling also train at the site.
Olympic Ski Jumps

Ski jumpers take flight throughout the summer. Come out to the Olympic Jumping Complex for a self-guided tour of the ski jumps and freestyle kickers and watch as athletes soar hundreds of feet through the warm summer air. Take the chairlift to the ski jumps' base, hop in the glassed-in elevator and ride to the top of the 120-meter jump. You can look out at the views—gorgeous in every direction—or look down a launch ramp that appears much longer and much steeper in person than it does on TV.

Spring has already come and gone and summer is finally here! We are now open 9am-5pm daily and all tours are available through the summer (Labor Day). This includes our float tours (via raft), tubing, camping, and more. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be a comet, this is the place to start. In summer, when bobsleds trade blades for wheels, climb into a sled with a professional driver and brakeman, and shoot down the 1980 track known—and respected—by racers the world over.
You'll feel the rumble through one turn, bank high on the next one and pick up speed on the straightaway. You'll go faster than you're allowed to drive a car through town. Then you'll get to the bottom and want to do it again.
