Abrupt staff and parking disaster

Upon arrival at the hotel we tried to park in the adjoining car parking facility that is promoted on the hotel’s website. Unfortunately when we arrived, we noticed that the car park was being dug out which meant there were no available spaces at the facility. There was no prior warning of this arrangement even though, judging by its size, the hole had clearly been present for a reasonable amount of time.

My friend went to ask the staff who told her very abruptly to park in the multi-storey car park down the road which costs £8 for 24 hours. Not only did we have to walk to the car park down the road and then carry our belongings down the street, it was overall more expensive and not as secure. When we came back to the hotel another member of staff asked if we had parked in the car park and had the audacity to say we could move my car back to the hotel car park if a space became available despite us having paid the full amount to stay in the multi-storey for 24 hours.

Whilst we were checking in, another customer came to say that their TV was not working and he had been waiting over an hour for it to be fixed. The gentleman was extremely polite and said he could understand it was not their fault but he would like it to be fixed as it should have been checked during housecleaning rounds. With this the other staff member (who told us to park down the road) went into the back of reception and was rolling her eyes at the customer despite how polite he was being.

Our room was to the expected standards and we very much liked this. However, at 6am we were rudely awoken by a family who were in the adjoining room to ours. The parents were persistently shouting at their children from 6am until 11am, when they vacated the room. We mentioned this to staff upon our departure for nothing to be said or done about this incident. After coming for what was anticipated to be a nice, easy and relaxing stay, it turned out to be increasingly inconvenient and disappointing to say the least. I have been to many holiday inn’s before and have never received such an unsatisfactory service.
