Known as the home of the Homestead Act of 1862, this national historical park draws visitors to explore the very spot where Daniel Freeman filed the first homestead claim. The Heritage Center, Freeman School, and tallgrass prairie trails bring the pioneer story to life through interactive exhibits and restored buildings. Plan to spend a few hours walking the grounds and learning how the Homestead Act shaped the West. The park sits about nine miles from the hotel, an easy trip for all.

The smell of dirt and fuel and the roar of engines fill the air on Friday nights at this three-eighths mile clay oval track on the west edge of Beatrice. IMCA-sanctioned classes include Modified, Sport Modified, Stock, Hobby Stock, and Sport Compact, with the Spring Nationals drawing racers from across the nation. The season runs spring through September Fest, and the grandstands offer a lively atmosphere for fans. The speedway is roughly six miles from the hotel, great for a weekend.

Work on your swing or unwind with friends on a Par 72 course that blends traditional tree-lined fairways with Scottish links-style holes across 7,169 yards. Five sets of tees challenge golfers at every level, with water in play on six holes and bunkers throughout. The clubhouse features the Black Rock Grille for a post-round meal, and the semi-private setting welcomes members and guests. The country club sits about five miles from the hotel, close enough for an early tee time.

The Beatrice Water park features a swimming pool, two waterslides, diving boards and kiddie pool. The Park is managed by the City Department of Public Properties and is opened Memorial Day ot Labor Day. The water park of Beatrice promises fun for the whole family.

The main feature of the park is a star with its five points symbolizing the five branches of military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. At each point of the star flies the flag representing its branch of service. The center of the star plaza provides the stage for the United States flag. Park benches, large majestic trees and bronze statues are also a great focal point.

Just a few minutes from the hotel, this museum occupies the 1906 Burlington Passenger Depot in downtown Beatrice and tells the story of Gage County from its founding. Exhibits cover local industry, business innovation, and community life through artifacts and rotating displays. Admission is free, with donations welcome, and the building is a fine example of Neo-Classical Revival architecture. Group tours are available with advance reservation for a deeper dive into local history.

Wildlife is abundant along the banks, and the easy trails nearby are ideal for a casual walk or a family outing. Plan on about ten minutes to reach the river from our front door.
