This property does everything right. It is the nicest of this class of hotels I have stayed in. I tend to lean toward the top two competitors, but this HIE beats both, hands down. 24 hour beverage service, warm cookies, an ample breakfast buffet with a very accommodating staff, and a front desk staff that is as friendly and welcoming as any I have encountered make this property fantastic! The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. Public areas are well maintained. The only complaint I would have is the folks smoking right outside the front door, but I think that is out of managements control, and is contingent on the guest population. I look forward to my next visit to LMU, so I can stay here again! I have NEVER given FIVE STARS on any review until now. Thank you to all that provided a wonderful experience!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Penny06 Best Holiday Inn Express Ever
I stay at Holiday Inn Express every time I travel. Although most of them are pretty good this one at Middlesboro was the best ever. The staff was exceptional, rooms very clean and comfortable. I don't have one single complaint. Of course I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to get off the beaten path and enjoy the high country.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at the Middlesboro Holiday Inn Express was felt even before arrival, as I had to make two or three phone calls before our trip. My questions were answered clearly and patiently by the front desk staff. Upon arrival, everything was ready for us to just pick up the keys and unpack. At breakfast the next morning, our family group, from toddlers to grandparents, found pleasing food choices. The breakfast hostess was helpful and friendly, even when one of the toddlers spilled a drink. Check out was quick and easy. From begining to end , our stay was a great experience.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pher Friendly staff and a nice hotel
Great place to stay in the area. I have been staying here since I was a kid. The staff is extremely friendly and the hotel is in good condition. This is the largest city in the area, so there are plenty of places to eat very close to the hotel. some within walking distance. The mall (very little) is down the road. Wal Mart is across the street. There is a small mountain, directly behind the hotel and standing near the pool. you can look around and see mountains all around you!
This hotel is close to Cumberland Gap, which is a quaint little historic town and area, with some nice sites and things to do/see.
It is also close to the Pinnacle, which is a must see view of the area on top of the mountain. You can see three states from this viewing point and it is absolutely beautiful! 2400 feet above sea level. You can drive up the mountain and once you get to the top, there is a parking lot and restroom and it is only a very short walk to the Pinnacle. You won't regret it. You can also stand on two states at once here (VA and TN) which is pretty cool. There is a visitor center at the bottom of the mountain which has souvenirs, information, historic displays and a theater room which shows a documentary about the history of the area.
Overall this a great place to stay with much to do around the area including shopping, movie theater, dining and tourist sites.

Good stay over all but, its a bit pricey. I couldn't believe every hotel in this little town was booked. This location is forty five minutes from the interstate. The front desk staff were great and everyone had a very good attitude. I had a really hard time trying to use my rewards points to get this room so I ended up having to pay for the first night. The customer service for the rewards card is not very helpful it seems like the web sight goes down in peak season the same thing happened last summer. I had to pay for my room because of the web sight being down.
