The hotel is recessed from the road. The grounds are well lit and parking is readily available. The staff is courteous during check-in and the process is reasonably painless. The decor is strange; the retro 70s carpet being the most obvious example. Someday we will wonder what we all thinking, however for the purposes of this review know that the carpet appeared clean and serviceable. Bright splotches of color, washing from wall to wall. My dreams were invaded, haunted, the memory fading in echo across years past. It is important to resist any impulse to replace the carpet with shag. Some consultant somewhere will suggest it. Resist.

I stayed for four nights for a conference in Kansas City. My room was 228 at the end of the hall next to the stair well. Across from me and next to me were a number of men that came back at 2:30 am Friday night and partied all night with their doors open. They were yelling and the language was the worst.
Next morning I complained at the front desk and asked to be moved if they were going to be their Saturday night. I received no response. Saturday when I got back I asked the individual at the front desk if the group was still at the hotel and if so to be moved. I was lied to. I was told they left. By 9:30 pm they were again yelling and keeping their doors open. I went down to complain and ask if they could be told to quiet down. I was told that it was only 9:30 pm. The party continued late into the night.
I did not get enough sleep Friday and left the conference group to get some sleep. I was also sleep deprived Sunday. A few heated words were said at the front desk and I was reminded I was at a Holiday Inn Express, not a Holiday Inn. I thought what?????
