Our overall stay was great. Hotel was newly renovated and very nice. There is still work to be completed. The restaurant hasn't been built yet. We will probably stay here again next year for the GRWA conference.

When I stayed, the hotel had only been opened for 6 weeks or so. It was brand new, and everything was clean. I had a great experience overall, but a few things really bugged me....
1.) no chain on the door - I'm a slightly paranoid person, so I like to always make sure the door is locked and chained when I sleep. The room had two doors, the main front entrance and the back entrance that faces the beach. Neither had chains. Now, the door / auto deadlock worked so everything was fine, but personally, I like to have chains on the doors.
2.) the entrance doors have spaces at the bottom. Bugs can get in as the doors lead straight to the outside. There was nothing (no rubber or cloth gap closer) in that space between the bottom of the door and the floor. I understand that hotels keep those spaces on purpose (I think) since they slip invoices and such through the space, but I'm not fond of it when the door leads straight to the outside. But, to be fair, I did not have any bug problem (maybe just one spider?).
3.) Bathroom door did not close properly - closer look revealed that the latch did not match up with the hole it is to lock into. The door did not swing open, because the door was crooked, but the door didn't close properly. Since this is a new building, it worries me that they either cut corners / just hired a shoddy construction company.
4.) They charged my credit card twice - and not just twice of my own payment, but they charged two separate costs both in the hundreds (I'm thinking they charged my card for someone else's room in addition to mine). I was not the only one this happened to as my friend, who was on the trip with me and stayed the same nights, also experienced the same thing. The incorrect one was removed a few days after the trip inexplicably. The person I called couldn't help me when I called about this problem either. But, it wasn't a supervisor I talked to, so if I had gotten a hold of the appropriate party, maybe it would've been resolved sooner. Like I said, the charge was mysteriously removed a few days later (same for my friend).
The stay was great overall and the problems that I mentioned really isn't all that bad either (except the credit mis-charge maybe....)

Newly renovated hotel. The remodeling for this hotel was extremely good. It appeared that everything was updated and replaced. I was impressed by the level of work that was put in to the renovations.
