What is IHG® Business Rewards?

IHG® Business Rewards is a new loyalty offering from IHG® Rewards Club that rewards individuals that book on behalf of others. Members earn IHG® Rewards Club points when placing their business accommodations, business meetings, and corporate events, as well as social bookings such as wedding services, with participating IHG® hotels. IHG® Business Rewards is set to launch globally on April 1, 2015 across all IHG® Brands.

How do I reach IHG® Rewards Club Gold Elite, Platinum Elite or Spire Elite status?

All IHG® Business Rewards points accumulated from qualifying spend count towards IHG® Rewards Club Gold Elite, Platinum Elite and Spire Elite status. With Elite status you receive all IHG® Business Rewards benefits plus additional exclusive rewards when you stay with us. You will need 10,000 Elite Qualifying points to reach IHG® Rewards Club Gold Elite status, 40,000 Elite Qualifying points to reach IHG® Rewards Club Platinum Elite status and 75,000 Elite Qualifying points to reach IHG® Rewards Club Spire Elite status.

How will I make sure I receive IHG® Rewards Club points when I make a booking on behalf of others?

When calling a participating hotel directly or making a reservation through our Reservations Office, give them your IHG® Business Rewards member number so your qualifying booking can be recorded.

I am not a meeting planner but am responsible for booking and planning one or more social events per year. Am I able to join IHG® Business Rewards and earn points on the events I plan?

Yes. IHG® Business Rewards includes special event bookings and we have participating hotels around the world that can serve as a wedding venue or general party venue. Any IHG® Business Rewards member who books an eligible event with an IHG® participating hotel is eligible to receive IHG® Rewards Club points for the event as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.

When will I start earning IHG® Rewards Club points for booking on behalf of others?

IHG® Business Rewards members will start earning IHG® Rewards Club points for eligible events that occur and are paid for on or after April 1, 2015 at participating hotels.

Is there a minimum or maximum spend to earn points?

There is no minimum spend to earn points with IHG® Business Rewards and members may earn up to 60,000 IHG® Rewards Club points for each qualified event, at the hotel’s discretion and in accordance with the IHG® Business Rewards Terms and Conditions.

What is qualifying spend for IHG® Business Rewards?

Qualifying Spend includes spend on guest rooms, meetings and events, conference rooms, food and beverage service linked to meetings and conferences, and all-inclusive meeting packages placed at IHG® Business Rewards participating hotels. Terms and Conditions apply.

What are qualifying room rates?

Qualifying room rates are applied when you book through IHG®Worldwide Reservation Offices, IHG®websites, travel agents or directly at the hotel in accordance with IHG® Business Rewards Terms and Conditions. Points may also be awarded on locally negotiated rates if these rates are discounted less than 30%. At Asia Pacific hotels, qualifying room rates also include all locally negotiated rates.

How many points do I earn in IHG® Business Rewards?

Members will earn 3 IHG® Rewards Club points per equivalent $1 USD spent at participating hotels when booking on behalf of others.

If you are logged in to your account, your total points will display next to “Balance:” in the top right corner of every page on For more details while logged in, click on the “IHG® Rewards Club” expandable tab and select “My Account” and then “Account Status & Activity.” In addition to your total points you will see the number of points specific to your IHG® Business Rewards qualifying spend.

How long will it take for my points to be credited to my account?

The participating hotel is responsible for posting IHG® Rewards Club points to a member’s account after the eligible business meeting or special event is completed and paid. It may take up to 6 weeks for your points to post. Please check your account online or contact the hotel where you booked to check the status of your IHG® Rewards Club points.

Can points be awarded for more than one room booked on the same night?

Yes, you can book multiple rooms on behalf of others for the same night and still receive IHG® Rewards Club points in accordance with Terms and Conditions.

If I use my IHG® Business Rewards account to book on behalf of someone else, will that person still earn IHG® Rewards Club points for their stay?

Yes, the person staying at an IHG®hotel will be able to earn IHG® Rewards Club points, as long as they are enrolled in IHG® Rewards Club and the rate booked is a qualifying rate for IHG® Rewards Club. As the booker, you should record the IHG® Rewards Club numbers of all stayers at the time of booking to ensure everyone gets their points allocated correctly. Can I earn points for my stay, as well as points for booking on behalf of my group, if I am one of the guests staying?

Yes, through IHG® Business Rewards you will earn points for booking on behalf of others at the IHG® Business Rewards earn rate. You will earn points if you stay and the points you earn for your stay will be at the IHG® Rewards Club earn rate.

How do I make my reservations in order to earn points for booking on behalf of others?

Beginning April 1, 2015 you can earn IHG® Business Rewards points in two ways: You can either call the Reservations Office to book up to nine hotel rooms or you can call the hotel directly to book rooms, business meetings, wedding services, and other special events.

Can points for one meeting be shared by meeting planners enrolled in IHG® Business Rewards?

Yes, the total number of points for one qualified meeting may be split between two IHG® Business Rewards members. This information must be included in the meeting contract at the time of booking at your participatinghotel. Your participating hotel where the meeting is held will need to allocate the points for you based on what was agreed as part of your meeting contract.

Can IHG® Business Rewards members earn airline miles?

IHG® Business Rewards members may only earn points for qualified events at participating IHG® hotels. However, points may be redeemed for miles with IHG® Rewards Club airline partners. And through IHG® Rewards Club, members may earn miles for their personal stays if they select miles as their earning preference.

What if my activity is not logged by the hotel?

Can I earn Elite status in IHG® Rewards Club by booking on behalf of others?

Yes. You will earn IHG® Rewards Club points which count towards IHG® Rewards Club membership Elite status. However, Gold Platinumand Spire Elite bonus points (a higher earn rate), will only be earned for points associated with your personal stays, and not points associated with bookings through IHG® Business Rewards.

Online Event Management

How does this tool help me?

The IHG® Business Rewards Event Management tool allows you to create new events and add multiple online reservation numbers to upcoming events at participating hotels only. You can also view a list of your upcoming events and view your estimated earnings.

Where can I access my events?

Your IHG® Business Rewards events can be accessed via the 'My Account' page when you are logged in.

What do I need to create an event online?

To create a new event, you'll need an event name of your choosing and at least one upcoming reservation number and the last name of the guest

My event includes reservations at more than one IHG® hotel location. Do I need to create multiple events?

Yes. The tool creates an event based on each hotel location. To enter reservations taking place at different hotel locations, create a different event name for each hotel location.

How do I keep up with an event which has already taken place?

The tool is designed to work with upcoming events only. For events which occurred in the past, for which you’ve not received your points either contact the hotel directly or the IHG® Business Rewards Reservations and Service Center for assistance.

My reservation contains two or more rooms. Why can't I enter this reservation into the tool?

IHG® Business Rewards only supports reservations containing one room. For further assistance, please contact the IHG® Business Rewards Reservations and Service Centre.

How many reservations can I add to an event?

You can add up to 9 reservation numbers at a time but there is no limit to the number of reservation numbers you can add to an event.
