A Perfect Day

Breakfast at Bistro 888

Start the Morning

Why not start the day out right? Bistro 888 on the lobby level offers a scrumptious buffet and a la carte menu. A short 2-block walk from our hotel, you can pick up the F-line streetcar to take you down to the Ferry building, where you will find 50 different vendors offering some of the finest food in Northern California, with views to match. Walking north along the waterfront, you'll come to Fisherman's Wharf, the touristic heart of The City. You can jump on one of the sightseeing boats for a cruise on the bay to get you up close and personal with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Wander the wharf at your leisure, but be sure to grab an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista Café, check out the famous sourdough bread bakery, Boudin's, and don't forget to pick up some world-class chocolate at Ghirardelli Square.

Then in the Afternoon ...

You can take a city bus to get you up to the Haight Ashbury, with its wonderful examples of Victorian architecture and legacy shops that still recall the Summer of Love from 1969. The Haight is a gateway into one of our civic treasures, Golden Gate Park. Here you will find the Botanical Gardens, the Conservatory of Flowers, the California Academy of Sciences, Blue Heron Lake, the De Young Museum, the Japanese Tea Gardens, random pianos available to play a tune on, and a herd of buffalo. Yes, buffalo. At the western most edge of the park, you will encounter the Beach Chalet, a family style restaurant with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and housed in a building built during the WPA era, with all the unique craftmanship you'd expect from the times.

Finally, During the Evening ...

San Francisco has 12 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own distinct feel and culture. Some of these vibrant areas are just a short walk from our hotel. Journey to the upscale Union Square neighborhood, our major restaurant, theater, and shopping district. From there, it's just a few blocks to Chinatown, with any number of restaurants, bakeries, and tea and souvenir shops. The other side of Chinatown will bring you to our Italian neighborhood, North Beach. The area was made famous by the Beatniks, such as Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, but remains popular for its numerous Italian restaurants, saloons, and waterholes where you will hear live music spilling out into the streets. Top off the evening with a visit to our own Bar 888, where our certified mixologists make drinks as varied as lemon drop martinis, classic old-fashioned, and an array of enticing mocktails. After a full day exploring our City by the Bay, you'll know why so many people leave their hearts here.
