Where History Checks In

Alexa Tower occupies the Canal-and-Bourbon corner as the Crowne Plaza’s historic six‑story wing. Built in the mid‑19th century amid the Touro Row development, the building long served retail uses, housing local department stores and later national chains, before being repurposed for hotel rooms in the early 2000s. Today, the tower is prized for its high ceilings, exposed historic brick, irregular room shapes, and a lively strand of local ghost‑tour lore that highlights its long commercial and social history.

NOLA Nights and Tower Tales

Step into the Alexa Tower and you may notice more than historic details. Guests and local guides tell stories of phantom footsteps in quiet halls, drifting orbs, a Lady in White marked by the scent of gardenia, a Gentleman Gambler who appears in the bar after hours, and the faint echo of a waltz. These atmospheric tales grew from the tower’s century-old architecture, its creaks, drafts, and late-night activity, and from New Orleans’s rich storytelling tradition, adding color to a stay and leaving a gentle sense of mystery.
