Where History Meets Hospitality

Rising at Canal and Bourbon, the Astor Tower is the hotel’s larger, more formal wing and a visible link to the block’s long commercial life. The parcel began in the 19th century with small religious lots before joining mid‑century commercial growth tied to Touro Row. After late‑1800s fires reshaped Canal Street, major department stores and national chains expanded here through the 20th century. Around the turn of the 21st century, the property was adapted for hospitality, becoming the Astor Tower that now contains the hotel’s grand lobby, primary guestrooms, and public amenities. Blending its historic fabric with turn-of-the-century updates, Astor Tower stands as an example of adaptive reuse that preserves echoes of its retail past.
