I've stayed at a few properties in Galesburg since my son started attending Knox College. Recently, I booked a room at Holiday Inn Express for Easter weekend. My expectations were not terribly high
as I associated Holiday Inn Express as a discount brand that was probably somewhat dated. Boy was I surprised.
This hotel is about a year old and in tip-top condition. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and our room was great. The beds were very comfortable and the reservation allowed us to make special requests. I requested extra pillows because in economy hotels, there often are not enough. The extra pillows were in the room, but were not needed as there were already 4 to a queen size bed. The room darkening shades were the best I've experienced.
The next morning the complimentary breakfast was really quite extensive. Not just your typical continental breakfast with a make-your-own-wafflemaker thrown in. There was a full breakfast with choices of meat, eggs, cinnamon rolls and make-your-own-pancakes, which was a nice twist.
