We spent a lovely long Easter weekend at this hotel. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city and you really couldn’t ask for a better location for touring Toulouse. There is a vast selection
of restaurants in the immediate area to choose from. Prior to our arrival date we received an e-mail informing us that due to our Spire Elite status we were going to be upgraded when we arrived at the hotel. We were greeted professionaly at check in and were informed that we had been upgraded two levels to a junior suite. Always wonderful to know that your loyalty to the program is indeed rewarded, this is a very important aspect of the program. The room was clean, well appointed and had a seperate seating area with enough room to get comfortable. The linens were fresh and of good quality. The breakfast was good, however, it should have had more fresh fruit available, a selection of non fat or low fat milk should also be added to the offerings as well as eggs cooked to your liking. We did not find it to be a 5 star hotel but a very solid 4 star. The hotel did not have some of the criterea of a 5 star such as turn down service, spa services were not made known to us. It most definately was a very nice hotel, but it did not have a luxury feel to it. We were very happy with our stay at this hotel and would reccomend it. We did have one issue which puzzeled us greatly and that was the following Taxi issue;
On March 31, 2018 we arrived at your hotel via a taxi which we took from the airport in Toulouse. The price we paid was €21.50 including 2 small suitcases (please see the attached receipt from this taxi ride). On March 3rd we arranged a tour of the Airbus museum and factory with your concierge Paul. Paul was extremely helpful and had his colleague arrange for a taxi to pick us up at the hotel the following morning and bring us to Airbus which is 4 km from the Toulouse airport. The price for this taxi that the hotel called for us was €47, with absolutely no luggage, (please see the attached receipt from this taxi ride).
We were very curious as to why there was such a huge difference (€25.5) for such a similar distance when we didn’t even have any luggage. So, we showed Nicolas at the front desk the receipts on March 3rd and asked him if he knew why this was. He said that the €47. was vastly overpriced and that he would look into it.
Upon our check out on March 4th Nicolas was at front desk but did not approach us. We asked that he come over and asked him if he had looked into this issue. He informed us that while the price of the taxi was far too much there was nothing that he could do about it because there was only one taxi company in Toulouse and even if they were overcharging the customers he could do nothing about it. I would like to call to you attention the fact that if you Google taxis in Toulouse you get a very easy 16 taxi companies based there and there could possibly be even more (please see the attached business card for Capitole Taxi which we also used during our stay).
Nicolas also informed us that he called the taxi company in question and due to privacy issues they could not tell him who the driver was. He asked us to leave this problem with him. WE asked him to let us know if he could find a reason for this and left him our e-mail details. We have not heard back thus far.
We always book with very reputable hotels so that we feel our needs are being looked after in a safe and trustworthy manner. We do feel let down with regard to how we were so blatently overcharged for this taxi which the hotel called for us. [Less]
