We arrived in Aukland on a cruise ship after a 40 day cruise. We found the Cowne Plaza a good central location to allow walking tours, and to access local excursions. All staff were great. Buffet
breakfast was excellent. Lobby bar had staff not particularly knowledgeable or attentive. Had to ask bar tender to come over to our table of four. When he arrived, and was asked for a certain liquor, he said they didn’t have any. We advised that we could see a bottle at the bar, and he proceeded to get it for us. He came with the bill, but never returned when we needed a refill. Again we went to the bar. We asked if it was protocol to place order at bar, but were informed No! He would come to the table ( at his leisure ).
On a different note, we could never get the toilet to operate properly. No matter which button or pushing both buttons, the toilet never completely flushed, and sometimes the water just kept running.
.Last point, we found the cost of everything related to the hotel, to be very expensive! To add insult to injury, the fee charged by VISA for merchants using their card, is added to the final bill. We have travelled all over the wo4ld, and never experienced this practice! I believe this is just another way to squeeze another 1.5% out of hotel guests! [Less]
