Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. It was nice to be recognised, after not staying at this location for 10 months. It is nice to see security guards at this location, now. If 2 security guards are on duty, they should not both, be allowed to take their breaks, at the same time. I saw this several times, during my stay. I have said this several times, during stays here, get rid of the cream and milk decanters in the Great Room, and use cartons of milk. The decanters are unappetising. Don't break breakfast down, at 915, especially while guests are still down there. Leave sufficient creamer in the room for coffee. Refill the tea bags, if used. I used some one night, and they were never replaced during my nearly 3 week stay. replace all towels taken. There were times all my towels, weren't replaced.

It's been a long time since I was at a Holiday Inn, and they've upped their game since my last stay! The beds were comfortable, with good linens, and the rooms reasonably sized, with very fast internet service. Glad we gave you a try!
Pool lounge area was awesome, and good sized pool - we were just there at the wrong time, as the water was a little cold!

I just wanted to take a minute to say how much I value the HI express in Van Nuys. I don't write many reviews but this place deserves it. The Staff is wonderful and so accommodating. They greet me by name and always express how they appreciate my loyalty to this brand. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and well stocked. I always get a good night's sleep here. Thanks!

First, I want to make a point that the staff of this hotel were excellent. The front desk was very nice, and so was the housekeeping staff. I couldn't have asked for better.
The problem was just the location of the property. Van Nuys is a rough area of town. I get that, and knew it was going to be rough. If staying near homeless causes you any concerns this is not the place for you. That said, there is a guard or two on the property at all times.
The real problem with this hotel is it's way too close to the busy 405 freeway. Beginning with rush hour you're going to get a LOT of traffic noise. This includes the intersection near the hotel that is used to get onto the 405. Because the area is high crime, there's sirens going off a lot. The road noise, traffic/car noise, and the emergency vehicles never allowed me to get a quality nights sleep while I was there.
The bathrooms are VERY small. I had a king size single occupancy, and the bathroom wasn't much bigger than a closet. Very little counter space, but made do with it. Also, the tub filled up with 4 - 5 inches of water every time I showered. They fixed this.......on the last night I was there. Bummer!

The room was small, bathroom was so tiny we could barely fit in it. The bed was so hard we had to ask for extra pillows to help with the hardness.
Be careful with your credit cards. I used my card at this hotel and my card number was used at a san jose, ca walmart days after I returned to Colorado, and the only other place I used my card was a car rental facility in San Diego.
