We appreciate the salt-water pool - it is so much better than the usual high chlorinated pools usually found in hotels.

Upon entering our room, the first thing we noticed is that the entry way light was burned out. After depositing our numerous suitcases, I noticed a lingering odor of cigarette smoke in what is supposed to be a non-smoking property. We did mention this when we left the hotel for dinner that night and the people at the desk offered to move us to another room - due to our large volume of luggage, etc., we declined the offer and made do with the room as it was. As this room was paid for with points, I was promised a refund of 5,000 points.
The wi-fi was intermittent and when I called down to the desk, I was told that their internet was working and to shut down and restart my computer (which I had already done to no avail).
The other issues that occurred were that the room keys did not work well - you had to insert it at least 3 times for it to work, and the bathroom exhaust fan was very loud.
I did report the issues upon checkout and once again, was offered a refund of 5,000 points. While this is nice, it really doesn't redeem the quality of the experience. During our 12 night trip, we spent 8 of the nights at 5 different IHG properties. This particular facility came in 7th out of the 8. All in all, a disappointment.

This by far it the best staffed Express I have stayed at. The young lady at the breakfast bar was awesome and went out of her way to help everyone, the GM greeted my family and asked how our stay was and the operations manager even offered to carry out our bags; I am a disabled vet, and I did greatly appreciate the offer, I politely declined the offer and used the cart, which they have plenty. The lady's at the front desk, both at check in and check out were courteous, fast and you were greeted with a big smile and a pleasant hello. Overall this Express is one of the best I have stayed at. If you are passing through the KC area, this is the one to stay at.

The room was missing light bulbs and the AC only sorta worked. The bathroom sink didn't drain well and the shower had something under the soap holders.
Breakfast eggs were omelets with items that I could not eat because of allergies. I'm sure staff would have made more as everyone was very nice.

Staffs were very friendly but room is not impressive. The non-smoking room smelled like an astray. It has also cigarette burns on the vanity bathroom. I requested non-smoking and hypoallergenic room but got the room with the opposite request. I sneezed every morning and at about 3 AM I could smell cigarette smell coming from the air unit.

The beds were comfortable; the bathroom was clean; the furniture was functional. This facility has the absolute best staff of any Holiday Inn Express! Every person with whom we spoke was exceptionally friendly, competent, customer focused, and skilled in their job. The front desk staff were always available. The breakfast hostess could easily become a corporate trainer for the brand. It is evident that she takes pride in the presentation of the food; tables were clean; coffee carafes were always full and hot. Great place to stay in Independence.
