How can I add my IHG® Rewards Club number to an existing reservation?

Simply log into My Account and search for your existing reservation from the "Stays and Events" page. Click "Search for Missing Past Stay" to add it to your reservation as well as earn your points/miles.

How long will it take my IHG® Rewards Club points to post to my account after a recent stay?

Please allow seven business days after you check out for points from a recent stay to post to your account. If it has been more than seven days and your points are still missing, you can contact a Customer Care Center or fill out a Missing Points form.

How do I get credit for a missing stay?

A stay takes seven business days from the date of check-out to post on your IHG® Rewards Club account. Stays prior to enrollment are not eligible for credit. However, as a IHG® Rewards Club member you may request credit for stays up to six months after check-out. If you need assistance regarding missing stays or point postings, please submit a Missing Points form.

What do I need to do to ensure that I earn points or miles whenever I stay at your hotels?

What is the difference between a stay and a night?

A “night” is considered one night at any of our hotels. A “stay” can consist of any number of consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/check-out.

When is a night or stay considered qualifying?

A "stay" or "night" is qualified when paying qualifying room rates, which include most business and leisure rates.

What are qualifying room rates?

Qualifying room rates are applied when you book through IHG central reservation offices, IHG Web sites, travel agents or directly at the hotel. In North, South and Central America and the Caribbean, points may be awarded on locally negotiated rates if these rates are discounted less than 30%. In Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau) hotels and resorts, Qualifying Rates include all locally negotiated rates.

Can I earn points and miles at the same time?

Your IHG® Rewards Club account must reflect either a points or a mileage earning preference. However, you can switch from one to the other at any time by updating the preferences on your account. Occasionally, there are IHG® Rewards Club promotions that offer points only, so if you are a mileage earner you will earn points on these offers. This information will be clearly displayed in the promotion details.

To change your earning preference please sign into your IHG® Rewards Club account, go to My Account and Preferences to select your choice of earning IHG® Rewards Club points OR airline miles.

Other than hotel stays, how else can I earn points?

In addition to staying at any IHG hotel, there are many other ways to earn IHG® Rewards Club Points including:

On all Eligible Charges charged to the member's room. Eligible charges, except at Kimpton® Hotels, include food and beverage, telephone, laundry, and in-room movies charged to the member’s room. Charges at restaurants not operated by the hotel may not be eligible for points. Hotels may choose to award points for other charges at their discretion.

Can I redeem my points for airline miles?

You may convert your IHG® Rewards Club points to miles/credit with participating frequent flyer programs. Conversions must be made in block increments for specified Frequency Alliances. To redeem your points for airline miles or credits, please call your nearest IHG® Rewards Club Service Center. The posting time of frequent flyer miles varies by airline and can take up to six weeks to post to your frequent flyer account.

When miles are transferred to a frequent flyer account, both accounts must be in the same name to avoid airline reject. This is for the member’s protection so that no unauthorized transfers may occur. Once transferred to an airline, they may not be returned to the members' IHG® Rewards Club account.

Can I earn points when I book on third-party sites?

Most rates booked through most third party web sites, complimentary hotel stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate are not eligible for points.

How will I know which of my stays qualified for a promotion?

You can find the list of your stays that counted towards a specific promotion by signing into your account and clicking ”Account Activity” on the menu on your left hand side.

How do I make sure my stay gets counted toward the promotion if it isn’t listed in the Activity Detail?

If you are missing points from a promotion, please complete the Missing Points form to request a review. A Customer Care representative will use the details you provide to research the problem and contact you with a resolution.
