The Hospices de Beaune, also known as the Hôtel Dieu, are an iconic architectural complex in the city of Beaune, Burgundy. Founded in the 15th century by Nicolas Rolin, the chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins, these hospices were intended to accommodate and care for the poor and the sick. With their multicolored glazed tile roof, the Hospices de Beaune have become a symbol of medieval hospital architecture.
