obviously a great natural advantage, and the hotel makes the most of it by keeping it clean and having a substantial bar/restaurant area just a few metres from the sea. They call it Hafa, the Edge, because when looking directly out to sea the next land mass is 10,000Kms away; the Antartic. Standing on the beach is like standing on the edge of the world. Both ancient ports existed for millennia, integral to the ancient trade routes and the spread of frankincense. A trip into the hills is usually rewarded by being surrounded by a heard of camels, a little surprising if one is accustomed only to being surrounded by sheep. Salalah as a city is expanding, with improved shopping, eating facilities and airport access. Overall it's a wonderful place to stay; chill and/or explore, it's up to you. [Less]
