Like a Movie Star
By NDIrish
We arrived by train from Nice and made the easy walk to the hotel. Once we arrived, our luggage was taken by the bellmen and we were given a receipt to give at check-in. I booked a standard room but [More] received a double upgrade to a 6th floor front (Room 633) and center room with a lovely balcony. There was a welcome basket of tangerines, bon bons, and additional water due to my Spire Ambassador status. Our luggage arrived soon after we did. The room was small but the view was the best ever. This is a hotel where you stay for the history and the beauty not the room size. Upon entry, there was a bathroom on the right with tub, separate shower, and sink area. I really loved that the tub had a marble rim around the top which made overflow next to impossible (an idea if I redo my bathroom). Across the hall was a toilet room. The king sized bed took up most of the room, but there was a desk, a dresser with TV, and a table by the window leading to the balcony. My only small observations are 1) the TV was too small for the screen-CNN and other channels ran over and weren’t all there, 2) the Internet had its moments, and 3) the area between the bed and the desk was not for a weight challenged person. It’s still a 5. I usually don’t care much about the view or the balcony except for an initial take, but I really loved it here. I got a great sunrise picture from our balcony and enjoyed just going out and standing and looking! It was also fun to walk up and down the waterfront and imagine all the stars that have been there. I had booked a standard with breakfast so we got to try out the fantastic breakfast at the Carlton. I’m not sure of the going price, but I doubt I would have paid such a price, but including it with the reservation was only 10-15 euro per person extra. Since this Intercontinental doesn’t have a lounge, I wasn’t worried about that feature so I just enjoyed what they had. Everything was clean from the behind the toilet to the main lobby (A to Z so to speak spotless!). Everyone on the staff from doorman to front desk to concierge to restaurant team was professional and welcoming. In conclusion, this is a place I would like to return, if just for the view and the promenades up and down the Riviera. This is luxury at its finest and even with the minor observations, a 5 with a (movie) star on top! [Less]

A relaxing weekend...
By Vonny
I was staying with my family in Nice for a weekend and it was very relaxing. Our room has been on the top floor with an amazing view of the city and the ocean. Also the terrace was huge. The room was [More] quiet and perfectly clean. The staff has been extremely friendly, helpful and provided a great service. Thank you a lot! We definitely would recommend this hotel. [Less]
No Real Spire Recognition
By NDIrish
We stayed here the first night after our 7 day cruise out of Genoa. We took the easy train from Genoa and made the short downhill walk to the hotel. We were warmly greeted by 2 ladies and checked in. [More] I was disappointed only to receive a 6th floor room since I am Spire. I had booked an Executive room with breakfast, and that’s what I got. I wasn’t asked about welcome points but did receive them a few days later. My room faced apartment buildings across the street so no view except closed curtains! The room was average size with a safe, a king sized bed, a dresser, etc. The bathroom had a tub so that was a plus. The minibar was completely full and had no room for a personal drink to cool. The hot water in the tub was brown when it first came out. The bed was extremely low to the ground. There was a welcome basket and extra water so I guess that was my “Spire” upgrade? The breakfast was average with breads, scrambled eggs, juices, and cold cuts plus one or two meats. There was a sign for eggs made to order, but this option was extra for each choice so I passed. The guy at the front desk in the morning was cold and rarely made eye contact except at check out when he went through the motions. In conclusion, the hotel was clean and in a safe area with many restaurants and sights nearby. I would stay here again but hope for a better view and more recognition for my top IHG status. [Less]
Staff friendly and helpful, great location
By Dice
Staff were friendly and always willing to assist. Hotel location - convenient and in walking distance to shops and beach. Small bar fridge in the room which is convenient. Close to bus stops and [More] train station Grab a good breakfast before heading for the office. Most definitely will be returning. . [Less]
Stay at Cannes
By Sanjay Bansal
This was our first time in Cannes. Although the stay was comfortable, the rooms were comparatively smaller in Cannes. The front Desk was helpful and concierge was good. A little far (around 10 min [More] by Bus) from the main attraction area but the bus service is regular and Bus No.1, 2 and palm express are available from the outside of the hotel only. Although we had our vehicle, we prefer to travel with local transport only and really no regrets for that. [Less]
Practical hotel just outside Cannes
By Tore
Practical accomodation short distance west of downtown Cannes. possible to walk downtown if you want to. walk down to the beach (train ounderpass) is better and more enjoyable. Nice and appears to [More] be recently refurbished rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Few other guests at our time there, and very quiet (outside high season). Breakfast quite disappointing. tasteless scrambled egg and bacon. coffee without taste, toaster did not work. this is especially to a relative high price. parts of canopy of front entrance crashed by bus or truck or similar. not impressive first impression. Good location helpful staff
By jambok111
This was a new area for me to visit - the ever helpful IHG website helped me to locate this hotel and I had no regrets about the selection. My French is limited and I found the check in staff [More] excellent and they assisted with public transport information. There is a rail station close by and this has good links if timetables are consulted first. As a short break I did not use all the facilities - maybe next time. [Less]
