After a very delayed crossing from Dover, we arrived at 1130pm at the Holiday Inn Coquelles, Calais. The lady on the desk could not have been more welcoming. She sorted us out with our room, and
then asked whether we had eaten. On hearing we hadn't she went off to the kitchen, to see what she could offer us (at 1130, the kitchen was officially closed, of course). She came back and let us know the menu, and we were delighted to get a plate of cold meats and two plates of mixed cheeses plus bread rolls and butter. All was delicious and much appreciated! We were even able to get drinks at the bar as they were only just about to shut up.
As per our previous visit, the hotel room was clean and comfortable, with the whitest, crispest and cleanest sheets you can imagine, the double bed was a 6 foot bed, our 3rd bed was already made for our daughter, as requested, and the bathroom was very clean and modern. As before, the hotel was being updated, but there was nothing to disturb us. Breakfast was a buffet of traditional bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, hash browns, tomatoes and beans - plus continental options of cheeses, meats, yoghurts, fruit and of course, bread and pastries. Lovely! [Less]
