We have been to Canyon de Chelly many times and even though hotels are limited in the area we always stay at the Holiday Inn in Canyon de Chelly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have done major improvements to the hotel which has made the stay more comfortable and attractive to guests. The rooms and bathroom are clean and the water source for showering is good. The hotel is now non-smoking but the rooms should be repainted since there is a vague odor of cigarette smoke. The bedding is new and fresh and the rug appeared to be in new and clean condition. The pool was not operational when we were there. The doors should remain locked to the entrance to the buildings for safety reasons, they were not locked when we were there. The dining room offers a large array of items, even a breakfast buffet, which our waitress did not offer us or mention until I inquired about the buffet but by that time we had already ordered from the menu. There is a very nice gift shop with a good selection of items which are well priced. This hotel is definitely worth the price when staying in Chinle,

Renovations caused plumbing issues - water amber colored - no attempt to notify guests or provide suitable drinking water.

I have no idea how they get the towels so white, or why there were septic trucks in the parking lot, but the brown water that was coming out of the faucet, toilet and shower made the stay very unappealing. Given that I have taken mud baths before, the tannish tinged shower was alright. I just found it strange that the front desk knew that the faucet water was brown and didn't comp drinkable water bottles that they had in the gift shop. Just make sure to pack an extra bottle or two of water to brush your teeth with and the hotel will work out fine for you.

THE FRIENDLINESS OF THE STAFF WAS OUTSTANDING AND EFFICIENT AND IT WAS A DISTINCT PLEASURE TO WORK WITH THEM. IF THEY ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NAVAHO NATION, THE NATION HAS REASON TO BE PROUD AND I WAS HONORED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THEM. THEY SERVED THE U.S. WELL DURING WORLD WAR II AND AS CODE TALKERS, ALMOST SINGLE-HANDIDLY, TURNED THE TIDE OF THE PACIFIC WAR THEATER IN THE U.S. FAVOR I AM PROUD THEY SERVED AS MARINES. SEMPER FI1

Pretty decent room with comfortable beds for an older Holiday Inn. Wish there were microwave ovens in the room to go along with the mini fridge.
Dining options seem expensive for the area so I did not eat here at the resturant.

This stay was adequate. The tv is on a short dresser so it's hard to see when laying in the bed without neck pain.

Room was adequate, food in the restaurant was overpriced and served lukewarm. We would have been happier eating off property.
People were friendly and courteous. Room was nice and clean so no complaints there.

This hotel was very good-great location to see Canyon De Chelly and helpful-friendly staff.
Even though they were doing renovations the hotel was very good--no work was done while we were sleeping. The food was good and staff was very friendly and helpful. Gift shop was very good and prices were good. I would stay here again when visiting the area.
