Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown

Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown

Celebrating Atlanta architecture.

Famed architect John Portman’s soaring atria and cloud-grazing glass elevators grace skyscrapers around the world, but no city better embodies his postmodern aesthetic than his hometown of Atlanta. Portman shaped the city’s skyline throughout the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, and today, the architect has reimagined one of his original designs — 230 Peachtree Center — to include the new Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown. From the curved, glass-and-steel staircase that greets you in the lobby to our sleek guest rooms, nods to Portman’s midcentury design merge seamlessly with the latest technology and amenities. Easy access to downtown’s biggest draws — including AmericasMart, another Portman work, accessible via skywalk — make our location perfect for business and leisure travelers alike. After a day on the town, settle in for a cocktail at our circular bar, where a floating glass-and-steel canopy mirrors our grand staircase, or enjoy dinner at JP Atlanta. Inside and out, you’ll feel Atlanta’s design history come to life.

    Neighborhoods

    Explore our neighborhood.

In the 1960s, downtown Atlanta became the center of an architectural renaissance built on a foundation of movement, beauty and technology. The dynamics of people became the heart of urban design, giving rise to signature elements like unobstructed glass elevators, elegant escalators  and revolving restaurants. Soon, Atlanta flourished into the perfect illustration of a modern, innovative city, influencing not only the United States, but countries around the world to recreate its designs. From the contemporary agora Peachtree Center to the global marketplace AmericasMart, our neighborhood features these soaring spaces in spades.

    Centennial Olympic Park

Once filled with empty lots and run-down buildings, this area was developed in 1996 for the 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games. It was then transformed into Centennial Olympic Park to honor the historic event and provide a public space for Atlanta’s residents and visitors. Now, it hosts a variety of festivals and concerts and is home to the iconic, interactive Fountain of Rings. For a fun way to see the entire city, take a ride on the SkyView Ferris Wheel, just steps away from the park.

    The Tabernacle

Built in 1910, the Tabernacle was once home to the Third Baptist Church of Atlanta, led by Reverend Len G. Broughton. The historic building first became a unique music venue in 1996, when it was converted into the House of Blues for the Olympics. Though it closed after the event, it re-opened in 1998 under the name “Tabernacle” and continues to host both local and nationally touring musical acts and comedians.

    The Tabernacle
    Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Atlanta Symphony Hall in the Woodruff Arts Center is home to the acclaimed Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The group recorded its first album there in 1977, and the venue has been a significant landmark in Georgia’s performing arts scene ever since. Experience concerts with classical music, attend a play, have a night of laughs with famous comedians, or take a tour to learn more about the location’s history and productions.

    JP Atlanta

Fifty years ago, famed architect John C. Portman opened The Midnight Sun, a restaurant that forever transformed Atlanta dining. His newest creation, JP Atlanta, has once again redefined the city’s culinary landscape, featuring classic Georgian dishes with a twist, artistic presentation and modern design.  Executive Chef Julio Delgado creates seasonal cuisine made with local ingredients; start with the Georgia peanut hummus. At the bar and lounge, try local craft beers and signature cocktails while socializing in sophisticated style.
