This museum is located on the hill of Le Suquet. Owned by the abbots of Lérins (on the neighbouring islands), the castle was built to protect the harbour and adjoining coast, from the 11th to19th centuries.

While looking for a studio, Pablo Picasso came cross the Château Grimaldi and decided to work there in 1946. He completed dozens of works which he later donated to the Museum. Also, admire works by Hans Hartung, Nicolas de Staël and other artists.

This completely renovated 17th-century Genoan-style villa in the heart of the olive grove, in the Gardens of Cimiez, houses the personal collection of Matisse, a great Fauvist painter, who lived in Nice from 1917 until his death in 1954.

Iles de Lérins

St Honorat Island is one of the last relics of the military and religious architecture of the 11th century. It was a sanctuary for the monks of the Abbey of Lérins and defence from the multiple plunders and invasions. Today, the Cistercian monks have developed 19 acres of vineyards and produce more than 12000 bottles of liquor and 35000 bottles of exceptional wine per year, sold to numerous famous French restaurants.

Les Marches, a club with a contemporary and elegant style, is one of the trendy places on la Croisette. It offers a magnificent view over the harbour and the Suquet, in an eclectic atmosphere. Open Thursdays to Saturdays from 11 pm to 5 am and every night from May until September.

Since the 16th century, the Meynadier Street has been used by horses or carriages. Today, only pedestrians walk along it, in a street where fashionable boutiques are surrounded by shops selling typical local products. Early morning is the perfect time to take a look around Forville market, when fragrances of thyme, verbena and basil fill the air. The InterContinental Carlton Cannes boasts 8 meeting rooms and can accommodate up to 1000 people in cocktail setup. The beach restaurant can host up to 2000 people for private events.


  • Check in was efficient, we were made to feel welcomed and were greeted and appreciated for being IHG members. The extras offerered to members were communited well. Concierge and housekeeping staff were warm, professional and efficient. Service at dinner was very good, food was good too. Breakfast was a good spread of healthy food.
