Featured Penang Hotels

Stay in one of IHG’s Penang hotels and you will have found a great place from which to explore this lively island. Formerly known as Betel Nut Island, it has undergone several transformations which have seen the area evolve from an unpopulated peninsula to a bustling port and now a thriving high tech business and tourist hot spot.
This diverse slice of Malaysia is centred around the capital of Georgetown, an area known for its Peranakan heritage and fusion of Malay, Indian, Chinese and colonial influences. A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, the city offers a cultural introduction to Penang and is peppered with spectacular Chinese shop houses, clan houses, temples and guildhalls. The Penang Museum will also offer an invaluable insight into the history of the area.
Food and drink is plentiful in Georgetown and ranges from the western and Malay delicacies available from the hawkers stalls of Gurney Drive, through to high class restaurants and cafes as well as small independent bakeries.
Away from the city, you can escape to one of the islands beach resorts, such as the tranquil fishing village of Teluk Bahang. Alternatively head to the popular Batu Ferringhi, where you can kick back and relax waterside or head into the surf for waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing and more. In the evenings the resort comes to life with a selection of restaurants and nightclubs to keep you entertained into the small hours.
If you prefer a slower paced beach break then secluded spots at Teluk Duyung, Pantai Mas and Monkey
Beach can be reached via trails originating from the Pantai Acheh Forest Reserve. The Penang National Park, Botanic Gardens and Penang Butterfly Gardens are all worth a visit if you are a nature lover and offer fantastic opportunities to enjoy some of the island’s flora and fauna.
However you prefer to peruse this marvellous destination, make sure you get the best deal when you book one of our quality hotels in Penang. Enjoy a convenient location and warm welcome, and book your break with IHG today.

Nice room and facilities
By wchoi
My room preference was fulfilled at check-in. The room is decently sized and clean, and the fixtures are functional (except the outdated clock/speaker which still uses the old Apple 30-pin [More] connector). Amenities provided is Holiday Inn standard. Only some flimsy indoor slippers were provided. It would be nice if outdoor plastic slippers could be offered too, as the nearby beach and pool were important feature of the resort. Maybe I'm asking too much though. The larger pool has decent depths. Water is quite clean but the bottom tiles were a bit dirty. There are towels but no locker, so you need to put your belongings at the chairs - safety is alright but it wasn't totally worry-free. Overall we enjoyed the pool. The buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of food, both local and international, though the quality was just average. View and comfort of the restaurant was nice. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel shuttle to Georgetown was punctual and convenient. Since the Resort is at far end of Penang island, be expected to have long commute time to/from it on a taxi, or even longer by public buses. All bad points mentioned and everything else are nice. Overall we enjoyed the stay and found it good value. [Less]
Very dated room, but hotel has nice ocean view and atmospher
By Cloud11
Check-in was fast and courteous. The front desk check-in staff followup with call to our room to ask if everything was alright. Nice touch. The room (932), though upgraded to ocean view with [More] balcony. is very dated. It smells musty and moldy. The linens and pillows all smell moldy. Bathroom fixtures are old, cracked and leaky. Water leaks everywhere. The pipe connects to the toilet leaks continuously. When shower, water leaks outsides the stall. Aircon continuously blows very cold air even when set to 28C. It appears to stuck at 21-22 C. On our first night we had the creepy feeling of staying in a run down motel. The staffs and service were wonderful. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant because the atmosphere and view of the ocean were very pleasant. Service was great; food quality was good. [Less]
