There is incredible beauty on land in Cozumel, yet people often visit the island mainly to witness underwater life while snorkeling or scuba diving along incredible offshore reefs such as Palancar or Colombia. If you need lessons, there are resources available to help you gain experience. Mini submarine tours are perfect for those seeking an alternative to snorkeling but still wish to view underwater wonders. Dive into Cozumel’s rich history by visiting several Mayan archaeological sites at San Gervasio or El Cedral. Additionally, there are beaches and parks perfect for soaking up Mexico sun and seeing wildlife.

Where to Stay

Most attractions in Cozumel are centrally located, so deciding where to stay depends on personal preference. Downtown San Miguel is the lone city on the island, with local markets, food stands, restaurants, beaches, and other attractions within walking distance. The Costera Norte region has more popular beaches, and gives you the option to explore Playa San Juan and Playa Santa Pilar, while Costera Sur is known for stunning views, diving, and snorkeling.

How to Get to Cozumel

Cozumel International Airport is located on the Caribbean coast, close to Cancun. Many visitors choose to fly into Cancun due to higher availability of flights. You can travel by bus to Playa del Carmen and take a ferry to Cozumel. Once within the city, walking, renting a car, or taking a taxi are great options.

HI Playa del Carmen is located on the main Cancun, Tulum highway and close to major retail and restaurants. It is walking distance to the Cozumel Ferry, excellent shopping on 5th Ave and plenty [More] of great restaurant locations. I've stayed here in the past and it does not get old... rr/16 [Less]

Annual Visit
By Jett and Leslie
The renovations have elevated this property to compete with other higher end resorts. The service and genuine caring of the staff remains the highlight, though. Some areas/rooms are still in need [More] of upgrading. But the new pool and upgraded beach areas are now so nice you don't spend daytime in your room. They hotel seems to control the AC in the rooms - of 6 rooms in our group, everyone had issues (new and old rooms). This is the only major problem, but it is a big one. The Beach Front Luxury room is very nice but be aware there is no door on the bathroom (there is an enclosed water closet) and bath is located next to room entry door. New pool is excellent. Would like to see adult pool area remodeled by next year! They need to provide a resort guide in the room and one more restaurant option would be nice. We didn't even know about the new lobby 'deli' shop. [Less]
