Things to See

There is incredible beauty on land in Cozumel, yet people often visit the island mainly to witness underwater life while snorkeling or scuba diving along incredible offshore reefs such as Palancar or Colombia. If you need lessons, there are resources available to help you gain experience. Mini submarine tours are perfect for those seeking an alternative to snorkeling but still wish to view underwater wonders. Dive into Cozumel’s rich history by visiting several Mayan archaeological sites at San Gervasio or El Cedral. Additionally, there are beaches and parks perfect for soaking up Mexico sun and seeing wildlife.

Hotels in Cozumel

IHG has hotels near Cozumel and on the island itself, with a wide range of amenities to suit your preferences. Book direct on our website for a comfortable and memorable stay.

Where to Stay

Most attractions in Cozumel are centrally located, so deciding where to stay depends on personal preference. Downtown San Miguel is the lone city on the island, with local markets, food stands, restaurants, beaches, and other attractions within walking distance. The Costera Norte region has more popular beaches, and gives you the option to explore Playa San Juan and Playa Santa Pilar, while Costera Sur is known for stunning views, diving, and snorkeling.

How to Get to Cozumel

Cozumel International Airport is located on the Caribbean coast, close to Cancun. Many visitors choose to fly into Cancun due to higher availability of flights. You can travel by bus to Playa del Carmen and take a ferry to Cozumel. Once within the city, walking, renting a car, or taking a taxi are great options.

Fantastic Resort
By Scube2
This resort is now my favorite! The hotel staff and service were excellent. We loved the snorkeling just off the beach with multiple entry steps to make it very easy. If you are a diver, the [More] facility has a dock for dive boats to pick you up right at the hotel. We also really enjoyed the complimentary bicycles that are available for use by the guests. We could not have asked for a nicer stay. [Less]
Beautiful Area
By Chris
Our stay was fantastic. The room was well kept and up to date. The beach was raked every day and we never had an issue finding chairs or a spot to sit. There were plenty of different fish in the [More] snorkel areas. I recommend the left side more due to a sunken ship and you don't get the gasoline film from the boats coming out of the marina. Quintessential beach
By sunkissed25
If you are looking for a quiet, low key vacation at the beach while still feeling pampered, this is THE place. We will be coming back. There was great snorkeling right off the beach in a marked [More] off swim area. There is a sunken ship that fish love to gather around. We even saw snorkeling excursion boats drop off their guests further down on the reef to check out the fish! We felt like we had everything we needed in one spot! Sun, Sea and Guacamole! [Less]
