Featured Honolulu Hotels

Serving as both the capital and largest city of Hawaii, Honolulu represents the island state’s energetic epicenter. In Honolulu, you will also find one of Hawaii’s most popular beaches, Waikiki. The city stretches over much of the island of Oahu, the third largest Hawaiian island, all the way from Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point. Honolulu is known for its arts, culture, and entertainment scene, offering a large array of activities from live music, dining experiences, art galleries, and some of Hawaii’s most historic sites.

Things to See

Honolulu is well known for its beautiful white sand beaches, especially Waikiki, arguably Hawaii’s most famous beach located on the south shore. It is the perfect place for swimming, canoeing, or sunbathing. Just up the shore you at Kalakaua Avenue, you will find yourself surrounded by exquisite restaurants, local shops, and a bustling nightlife scene. If you seek a more serene beach, Hanauma Bay is a great choice with its location at the base of an extinct volcano, surrounded by calm waters and a beautiful coral reef. The bay’s reef is an excellent place for snorkeling and scuba diving. Halona Beach Cove, known as the “peering place”, is nestled in a rocky cove and offers the perfect place for swimming when the surf is calm.

For the outdoor aficionados among us, hiking up to the top of Diamond Head State Monument to experience the extraordinary views of both Honolulu’s skyline and Waikiki Beach is a necessity. There are also several other places to go hiking, such as Pu’u Ualaka’s Park, Nu’uanu Pali Lookout, and Halona Blowhole all of which will wind you past stunning beaches and rock formations. Or, just grab your towel and head out to Ala Moana Beach Park, Kaimana Beach, or Fort DeRussey Beach Park for a good dose of sun. Honolulu is also home to several historic sites, including Pearl Harbor, the largest natural harbor in the state and the only naval base in the country that has a National Historic Landmark designation. Board a ferry to the floating USS Arizona Memorial, constructed over the sunken battleships hull, and learn about the attack that will live in infamy. Also be sure to stop by the Pacific Aviation Museum and the Battleship Missouri Memorial, recognized as the site where WWII ended.

Hotels in Honolulu

There are many hotels in Honolulu dotted in various areas of the city, ranging from family-friendly spots just a short walk from Waikiki Beach to locations that are ideal for business travelers. Options and amenities abound, making it is easy to find a location and style best-suited for the activities you have planned for your trip to Honolulu.

Where to Stay

As the cultural hub of the island of Oahu, downtown Honolulu houses the Hawaii State Art Museum, Mission Houses Museum, Aloha Tower, the state capital building, and majority of the business district. Waikiki is the center of tourism and is a popular tourist destination. Its gorgeous beaches, the Honolulu Zoo, the Waikiki Aquarium, and vibrant Hawaiian culture make it the perfect place to enjoy with the whole family. Ala Moana Park, between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, offers a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a tranquil alternative away from popular tourist destinations.

How to Get to Honolulu

Honolulu International Airport (HNL) is the most convenient option for fliers, offering many domestic and international flights. The airport offers a shuttle service, the Airport Waikiki Express, to and from hotels throughout the day. Public city buses also provide stops through downtown and Waikiki. Rental car services are accessible just outside the airport terminals as well. Once you have arrived at your destination, getting around may be a little difficult if you are not used to a compass-point grid system. A city map (often offered in hotel lobbies and tourist spots) or your phone’s GPS will come in handy while navigating Honolulu.

Hawaii Stay

Great location. Able to get to all of Honolulu's sites within walking distance. Received complementary bus service which I used to travel the outlying areas. Very attentive staff and excellent [More] service. New restaurant (Maui Brewing Company) was an added bonus. [Less]
Great location

Staff and location are the highlite of this property. Whilst an older property and feeling a little tied everything works. Best off beach location handy to everything. [Less]
Great location and value for money!
By Troji
We booked 3 rooms and stayed here for 4 nights while in Waikiki! This hotel is right in the middle of everything. It is a wonderful location and a lot less than many other hotels near it. But, I was [More] expecting the view to be much better than it was! The first morning we woke up, my 6 year old said, "wow...it looks just like New York City here!" Not really what you want to hear when you are expecting a beautiful beach view. We were on the 24th floor and still could not see much of the water or beach! If you don't care about having a resort feel or a beach view, but just want to be close to everything, then this is a great option! If you are looking for more of a resort to relax at...it would be worth spending more money and stay at a different hotel! [Less]
Paradise
By Waikiki Lover
Stayed for 12 nights in May in room 3105 in newly renovated hotel. Checking in it was a great pleasure to see Gladys and JT. Sometimes its not just about the hotel, its also about the staff. That's [More] what can make a hotel good, but with great staff it makes it brilliant. The room is a bit small but is dominated by our king size bed. I called it a big marshmallow. OMG it was soooooo comfortable. I'm not sure if they spray it with some mystery solution to make you stay in bed, but my god that's a comfortable bed and pillows. Very hard to leave the bed every morning. The room has been totally redone with the bed all the furniture and fixtures. Also the bathroom has been remodelled. You also have a big screen TV and coffee maker with a microwave and an in room safe. Our view from our room was of the ocean and so impressive. Thank you Gladys !!! Room was so comfortable it was hard to leave. There is a amenity fee which includes safe use, breakfast, newspaper and use of the pool. We had the breakfast downstairs in the breakfast room. Plenty of seats and lots of choices for breakfast, juice and milk and coffee to cereal to fruit, eggs, sausage etc. But my favourite would be the pancake makers. In just over a minute 2 pancakes are made automatically. I had them every morning. I want one of those machine's. The breakfast was a great way to start the day. On level 5 is the pool, spa, cabanas, deck chairs, mini golf and games room. Again Holiday Inn, you knock it out of the park. So now I don't want to leave my cabana....Total relaxation. If you have a rental car there is parking available, with a charge, just like every other hotel in Waikiki. If you do manage to leave the comfort of your bed or cabana, the hotel is located just as you enter Waikiki. Its maybe a 7 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to luxury row shopping. Everything is in a comfortable walking distance from the hotel. I cant fault Holiday Inn Waikiki. They greatly exceeded my expectations by far. I as so relaxed and comfortable there and am rebooking for my next relaxation holiday. They were even kind enough to collect a bit of mail for me. You guys are brilliant !!!! I look forward to being spoiled by Gladys, JT and Sebastian again !!! They don't treat you as a number but as a friend and O'Hana. I do hope they get to see this review so they know what a great job they do and how their great service and attitude effects a visitor. Can't wait to get back. Thank you for a great visit !!!! [Less]

Pleasant stay
By Tj2257
The room was smaller than expected which wasn't a big deal. I did not like the fact that there was a loud window unit for the air conditioner it made it difficult to sleep. Also the water pressure [More] was poor and couldn't get the soap out of my hair other than those small problems everything else was great and made for a pleasant stay. [Less]
