We have stayed at this location before (as recently as the week before, in fact, and parked our car there for the week while we were away) and had never had an issue. This night the hotel was full,
but since we had paid in advance for our room, knowing that it would be at least 1:30-2:00 AM before we would be checking in due to our late flight, we had no concerns. As we checked in we were told that a credit card was needed for a security deposit. Really? That's never happened before. We provided it, and finished the check in. We set the alarm so that we could grab a quick bite at breakfast before we headed out, and assumed that there might be a bit of flexibility on the breakfast hours. Nope. We got a plate, went to go back in for a glass of juice, and the doors were rolled shut promptly at 9:30. Yes, we should have been a few minutes earlier, but watching them trail precooked food out the back door after shutting the doors seemed a bit much. 9:30 is when breakfast ends through the week, no exceptions. Today, while reviewing my credit card transactions, I saw that the security deposit was still outstanding, so I called the hotel. Apparently I won't see it credited back for 7-10 days; I was not told this at check in time, either.
So, what has changed? All small stuff, I'll admit, but we went from feeling like royalty a few months ago to feeling like Holiday Inn was doing us a big favour by allowing us to have a room this time.
We will be comparison shopping for our next stay at an airport hotel. [Less]
