Was told to Be quiet upon check in?

Good Morning,

I hope your day is going well and thank you for the opportunity to share with you my experience upon check in on Saturday afternoon.

My business partners and I are here for a legal conference over at the Gaylord and upon check in I was confirming with the Trainee who helped check us in, that the two packages I had delivered to the hotel was there.

The trainee indicated that it "might be" there and she would check, I replied to her that I am sure the packages were there as the shipping company confirmed delivery. She explained that there were some packages delivered the other day, but she did not see my name on any of them. I again replied that I am SURE the packages were there as the shipping company provided me proof of delivery to the front desk. In a jovial way, I told her that she should say "Sir, I am sure the packages are here and I will check in the back for you", she laughed, we laughed and then that is when Nancy who was on the phone said "Excuse me, can you please keep it down, you are being a little too loud and I am on the phone and can't hear".

I was shocked and said WOW, I can not believe that just happened and I told the Trainee, who looked equally shocked" that I better walk away now as I did not want to say something that was not nice and I proceeded to ask my partner to continue the check in process and walked into the lobby area near the TV and threw my bags down to let out some frustration.

After Nancy was done with the call, she apologized to my partner for being so 'Straight forward" as she called it and that she could not hear and there was a "lot of things going on". She offered for him to grab something for "free" from the snack area.

So, the issues I see here are:

1) The trainee did not make me feel comfortable twice about the packages that I know had been delivered. Her words were not confident and made it seem like these important conference items may not be there, not a good feeling.

2) Nancy, who made that unwelcoming comment, in front of another guest, to me when we were JUST checking in was unacceptable and unprofessional.

3) Nancy displayed this behavior in from of a trainee of the hotel.

Worth the stay for the night if you are visiting the Washington, DC and National Harbour areas. The staff was courteous, accommodating, and friendly. The hotel appeared generally well kept. The downsides: the pool is next door, not actually in the hotel. There should be some type of gift at check in for IHG members.

The hotel was clean and comfortable and had a great breakfast. I wanted to give a shout out to "Q" our shuttle driver. He was friendly and courteous and always met our needs. I recommend that people making reservations ensure they check with the hotel to understand the shuttle service and appointment schedule so you know before you check in.

Not very organized. Was not happy about the shuttle hours to the metro. Room was not ready 90 minutes after check in time then was offered to take a handicap room as I offered to cancel and go to another hotel after I stood in the lobby for over an hour.
Then was hurried by house keeping 2.5 hrs before checkout time the next morning.
