Our stay was fine. Check in went smooth although our room wasn't ready - we were earlier than guaranteed check in time. The young bellman that helped initially was really friendly and very congenial. We spoke with him everyday regardless of not needing him. He remembered us and was very nice. The older bellman was extremely rude and tarnished a very good impression of the hotel.
Room was small - but sort of expected it since it was New York. Shower was a bit too small - had to be in there to turn water on without getting it everywhere - thus there was a time when you were standing in cold water (hate that). Also didn't like the frosted glass into the bathroom area. We had our teenage kids with us and it just made me uncomfortable.
Breakfast was okay - about as expected. Biggest complaint was there was no place to put dirty dishes to clean a spot for the next person. It was very crowded and the staff seemed overwhelmed with keeping food available - which was good. But there was no place for people to sit unless they wanted to 'bus the tables' themselves.
We only experienced one night of happy hour - drinks were more than plentiful. Food was plentiful - i just didn't care for the particular choice but that is a personal thing. Seating again was a problem. Hotel allowed seating in the bar area but no one came in to clean up. After watching people come in and look for places to sit I had to ask the bartender - female - who was too busy chit-chatting with another worker - to request someone to clean the tables. She said she could - or she 'guessed she could do it herself'. Well no kidding.
Hotel was a very convenient location - although there was construction right next door which made it difficult to walk by - but was fairly close to everything we needed to get to.

Highs: Nice large clean rooms, good breakfast, close to action of Tmes Square, great staff.
Lows: view from room on the back of building looks directly at another hotel. Lower rooms in front look at a ugly bus depot. Much construction on both sides of Hotel. Parole office on the same block brings some questionable characters to the street.

This Hotel had a great breakfast and very courteous staff but the Kids there were not so courteous. There must have been a buss load. It was very tight to find a place to eat in the morning until I found the Bar was open to overflow. It's a very small lobby and tight spaces in the room. Since it's a Suite, I thought I'd have a couch but not so.
