Munich, capital of the beautiful southern German province of Bavaria, is a fascinating mix of the modern and the traditional. With a history stretching back to the eighth century, today you find traditional culture and contemporary living hand in hand, while modern and medieval architecture stand side by side. Munich is only 30 miles from the Alps, and though it was heavily damaged during World War II, its historic Old Town has undergone extensive renovations and contains many architectural points of interest and memorable Germany hotels.
follow the path of the prisoner, and see the original prisoner quarters and the crematorium, along with many exhibitions and memorials.
Munich is renowned for its beer halls. Most brew their own beer, and the visiting connoisseur has nearly unlimited choices. Visit the Wesses Brauhaus, which has been around since the 19th-century, and sample beers whose descriptions range from refreshing like a dance in a summer breeze to relaxing moments by the fire. Or try the
Hofbrauhaus
, the world's oldest beer hall. For food rather than drink, wander the stalls of the Viktualienmarket, Munich's outdoor farmer's market. With over 140 booths offering local food, flowers, and spices, you're sure to find something which captures your fancy.
The English Garden is Munich's biggest park and one of its prime tourist attractions. It's bigger than New York's Central Park, and offers paddle boats for the water, woodland paths, and even beer gardens.
If museums are more your speed, Munich has many to offer.
The German Museum
is unique, in that it's located on an island in the Isar River. It's a museum of science and technology, and boasts intriguing historical artifacts, like the world's first electric dynamo and the first car. Munich is also home to one of the oldest art galleries in the world, the Alte Pinakothek, which houses over 800 masterpieces from the Middle Ages.

Clean
By Ritayh
My experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Munich Messe was fantastic. The entire facility was very clean and crisp. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. I highly recommend [More] staying at this hotel. My only complaint is that the bar was not staffed adequately, but that is not enough to deter me from saying my experience there was excellent. [Less]

Front desk staff is very hardworking and friendly. Wonderful breakfast with lots of items to choose from. This location has tour groups, so it can get crowded at times. [Less]

Good place to stay before and after a long flight
By Austinite77
This is not a hotel that I would use to stay multiple nights, as it is not located near anything of use to me except the airport. That said, this hotel was definitely adequate for the night before a [More] flight, and/or just arriving after a long flight when you wish to get some rest. There have been some complaints about the airplane noise. We found that it is only with the windows open that this is a problem. So, it comes down to being convenient. What was inconvenient was waiting for the shuttle. Make sure you figure out, in advance, of where you need to wait for the shuttle. It is a big confusing. Also, they charge around 5 Euros for coming, and then 5 for returning to the airport. [Less]
good airport hotel
everything worked and it was a clean place to stay.shuttle was good to airport. [Less]

Clean well maintained property. Excellent breakfast buffet. Helpful friendly staff. [Less]
inconsistent shower temperature
By slaac01
Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast promotion is quite a bargain (25 euro for 3 people per day). Convenient location makes shopping and public transportation easy. Inconsistent shower temperature [More] is the only drawback. [Less]
Best Ever
By Andy0709
My wife and I stayed in the HI Munich City Centre for a long weekend break using my Reward Points. The new look to the hotel is great, more relaxed and spacious. The staff were superb (as always) and [More] the upgrade to an 11th floor Exec City View room was a really pleasant and welcomed surprise. It was just brilliant! If I have two (very minor) 'gripes' they are that 1. If 2 people are occupying a room then there should be 2 bathrobes and slippers, not just one set. And 2..Making 4 bath towels available (they are quite small) should be the norm. Having said that, we left a note for the staff and additional towels were provided. This is about the 8th time we've stayed there and will continue to do so in the future. In fact we're staying there again in February 2017 with 8 friends to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thanks again Holiday Inn 11 out of 10 Andy & Sheana. [Less]
Very good hotel within walking distance of the city centre
