We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv Beach for 5 nights and just checked out on Sunday. The Crowne Plaza has a reputation of being one of the more established hotel chains around the world, but
unfortunately this location could not live up to the hotel’s high expectations 100% of the time.
Check-in for us was a breeze. As an IHG Platinum member, I was promptly acknowledged regarding this matter upon check-in and was automatically upgraded to a one-bedroom suite with a couch, which was nice.
Our room (714) was spacious and nice, but a bit bland. If anything, it was also a little dated. While the A/C definitely worked, it was difficult to regulate the temperature. Yes it did what it was supposed to do especially on hot days, but on at least a couple of nights we had to turn the A/C completely because it was continuously blowing cold air straight down on us on the bed even as thr thermostat was set on its warmest.
The flush on the toilet does not work very well either. It would usually take at least two really hard pushes on a button that was supposed to activate the toilet plunger in order to completely flush the bowl. Plus, while the bathroom exhaust vent (which should be standard to all hotel rooms) was appropriately located right above the shower/tub area, it never worked. I tried bringing this to the attention of the front desk and they promised me that they would send a person to check it out, but nothing really has changed when we came back to our room later in the day. Aside from wiping the condensation off of the mirrors with your hands after showering, the only other solution we had was to shower with the bathroom door open.
The housekeeping was spotty at best as well. Our first housekeeping experience the next day after checking in was great, but it just went downhill from there. Every day that we came back to our room, there was something either left out or left behind. Empty water bottles would be left behind, at one point a spray bottle of cleaning liquid was left by our housekeeper on bathroom sink which we initially found hilarious before we started shaking our heads in disbelief, and 2 days out of 5 our free daily water bottles were not replenished, and more than once we had to ask for them. Add to this, on more than one occasion it seemed like only the bed would be made and the rest of the room (trash, floor sweeping) would seem to have been neglected.
On the plus side, the hotel offers a fitness room (simple a basic but gets the job done) and a pool and spa. Also, the property is situated right on the beach, so access to the beach was very easy.
The Crowne Plaza on Tel Aviv beach did not live up to my expectation as an established hotel brand. They’ve got lots of competition right along the beach shore so I was slightly surprised to have felt like I was let down. If I were to come back to Tel Aviv, I might consider checking out the other hotels that I think may suit me better, such as the Renaissance hotel next door. I would give this Crowne Plaza property a 7/10 score. Might not come back. [Less]
