Things to See

Representing a true mix of the a city feeling and colonial charm, Puebla is made up of thousands of old historical buildings and churches, such as the San Juan de Letran and Rosary Chapel (Capilla del Rosario). While one can easily fill up days just admiring the architecture of these places along with Catedral Basilica de Puebla, Iglesia de Tonantzintla, and Biblioteca Palafoxiana, there are also must-see museums and restaurants that require visiting. For food and gifts alike, check out the Street of Candies or Zócalo, the main square of downtown that is known for festive people-watching. Puebla is known for wonderful food at places like the Cholula Market, which sells great quesadillas made with fresh ingredients. You may also to visit the Africam Safari, a large zoo featuring more than 3,000 free-roaming exotic animals and hands-on experiences such as feeding giraffes and birds.

Holiday Inn Angelopolis

Nice hotel, staff needs to be more polite. No Ihg member recognition, in a hurry because it was a little crowded. Unusual experience since Ihg is great most times. I asked for my bill, was told I [More] would receive it in 10 minutes and after 3 days haven't received it. I have to call the hotel to see what happened. [Less]
Fine rooms and service but too much price
The rooms and service were fine and typical of the high quality at Holiday Inn. But the price is way too high for Mexico. [Less]

Beautiful but Problematic
By ProfeGdA
This hotel is a beautiful place in terms of the building and the lobby and common areas, but the rooms themselves need major upgrading, especially the plumbing and the bedding. The bed was hard and [More] the hypoallergenic pillows were old, lumpy, and way too soft. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a hotel of this caliber to have good hypoallergenic pillows and better mattresses? The down comforter (which I am allergic to and had to have changed) was crusty, like the feathers were hard instead of soft. Even if we were not allergic to down, I would have asked that the bedding be changed. The staff took care of the problem right away but the poor quality of the pillows and the bed itself made it difficult to sleep. The air conditioning unit is placed in the hallway which made the hallway very cold but the rest of the room was too warm unless you had the unit at the lowest setting, and then the room was too cold to sleep. The really big problem was that our room had a leak in the shower faucet and the extendable shower head came out of the wall, so it did not function at all. Even though they sent in a plumber to look at the problem, nothing was really fixed, and so the last morning, we were not able to shower before departing because the water had been turned off to all the rooms to fix a huge plumbing leak in the hotel. Although we received a 15% discount on our last night, I think the discount could have been better, especially given all the other problems we had in that room. To be fair, the reception desk did offer to change us to another room, but my elderly mother was staying next door, and we wanted to be close to her. She, too, had problems with the bedding and the air conditioner in her room, and had to have the bedding changed and a fan brought in that could provide cool air to the room itself. Finally, the pool needed cleaning and the water was very cold, not heated at all. On the upside, the breakfast buffet was delicious, and the coffee in the lounge as well as the service in the lounge were the best the hotel has to offer. So, even though we would recommend the hotel, the physical condition needs a lot of repair and upgrading, and also, because it’s far away from the center of town, be ready to call Uber for everything, unless you have your own car.
