We like a post Christmas break and had never been to Portugal so looked at the Holiday Inn's in the area and chose this.
Easy to get to with public transport, use the Lisbon transport pass you can
buy at the metro station at the airport, the machines have a button on screen to change to English. Get the metro to Alameda change to the green line to Rossio, next to the metro station exit get the 714 bus all the way bus stop is opposite the hotel. The bus goes through Belem which is a tourist area so visit that in your stay. We also got a train from Belem to explore Estoril and Cascais very cheap about €2 each way per person.
About a 5 minute walk away is a big shopping mall with a great food court. We had a main, desert and soft drink for roughly €20 per night for 2. There is also a big supermarket to buy snacks and drinks from.
Free breakfast at the hotel includes those lovely Portuguese custard tarts.
There is a faster bus available that you have to pay for but we were taking it easy.
We would like to go back to Lisbon, when we do this will be our hotel of choice. [Less]
