The hotel provided the basic's that you need when away.
The lighting, mirrors and plug sockets were sensibly placed and located in the room (you would be surprised how many aren't!).
The hotel was quite and I slept well.
Only negative is the dinner option. They can only server 4 varieties of Pizza at the hotel. There is a TGI opposite but I was wanted to stay in on a cold autumn night but had to go and sit in a loud music family diner for my dinner.

I left a valuable item behind when I checked out and didn't realize until hours later. I contacted the hotel as a last resort and didn't really get my hopes up. The staff was really helpful and found it and sent it to me. I really appreciate it and very grateful!

Having stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels on business and leisure, one thing you can be sure of is the quality of the accommodation as, to be honest, most are the same. What makes one hotel stand out against another can be the staff, who, in most locations I've stayed in, are genuinely very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, apart from the receptionist who served me when checking in, I found staff at this hotel to be quite indifferent and unattentive. Maybe it was just a bad day but it certainly left an impression on me. A little customer care doesn't cost much and can lead to repeat bookings. Other than that, the fabric of the hotel and standard of the rooms were up to the usual standard.

My Mum and I wanted to stay in the Lichfield area so that we could visit the National Memorial Arboretum. The Holiday Inn Express was conveniently situated for this and for Lichfield itself. We drove down from Chester in time to enjoy a glorious autumn afternoon in the beautiful city. We found the Holiday Inn easily for booking in early evening. We were made very welcome and a member of staff advised about the trip to the Arboretum, having been recently with his own mum. We enjoyed a lovely meal at Frankie and Benny's (literally across the car park) and a good night's sleep in our comfy room. Breakfast offered good variety and the staff were attentive. We had a full day at the Arboretum the next day. A vast area to explore and a very moving experience. Then a lovely meal at the Little Owl, about a mile away down the nearby lanes. We booked out quickly and easily and went on to enjoy a real taste of the Potteries with a visit to Gladstone Pottery Museum in Longton on the way home.
