    As expected... which was great

    Having stayed at a Candlewood Suite before in Milwaukee we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. I intend to stay at the Suites whenever possible. The separate bedroom for my wife and I is great and the kitchen allows for snacks and breakfast in the rooms which can save a lot of money on a vacation!

    Great location, comfortable rooms - but bad encounter with staff

    I have stayed at this Candlewood Suites several times. The location is great, easy to get to and convenient to restaurants and highways. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff (normally) is very helpful and friendly.

    But I have to state that this past stay was ruined by a horrible encounter with a front desk staff member who treated me with complete disrespect, as well as my coworker. This encounter was early in the morning and I assume he was the over-night staff. Not that should matter.

    Normally - great hotel and friendly staff, just a one-time bad experience. Hopefully this person will not be working if I stay here on my next trip to MSP.

    Normally good - Bad Experience

    I've stayed at this facility a number of times and it's been fine. However, this time two things happened that were notable, one major, one minor.

    The major issue was that there was no hot water in the AM when I went to take a shower. I called the front desk and was informed that work was being done with the boiler. Hindsight, I realize they could have called occupants, which were few that weekend. Second, the person refused to give me a straight answer on when I'd be able to get it. Again, hindsight is that with it down, it would have been some time to start getting hot water is my guess.

    The other, minor issue was I normally get a cookie or two when I arrive, and her position was someone took the last half-dozen. My thought is that they bake these themselves, so why didn't she start another batch?!

    I want to post a follow up to my original post. When I returned to MN to pick up my car at the Candlewood, my car did not start. However, the front desk manager, Abdi, was extraordinarily generous, kind and helpful. He volunteered to help out. First, he helped to push my car out from its spot so we could jump it. Next, he brought his personal vehicle around and helped jump my car. I was on the road in minutes after he volunteered. I had waited an hour for AAA, and in 5 minutes Abdi had me going! That's the kind of an employee a firm would be proud to have!!! Thanks, Abdi!

    Overall excellent value and good experience

    Overall, my visit was very good. The hotel common areas are kept clean and well maintained. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The mattress was a little hard and could have used a comfortable topper. The front desk staff presented themselves nicely and were courteous. However, when presented with something out of the ordinare, such as a guest with a truck that will not start, they did not handle the situation well nor did they attempt to do anything out of their day to day tasks to assist us. I asked if they had jumper cables, I thought surely since the lending area had such items as crock pots, they would surely have a jumper cable or a charged jumper pack, but they didnt. The front desk clerk only told me that there was a garage just down the street that I could perhaps get assistance from. He did not even offer to call anyone for us, nor did he offer to contact any of the other employees to see if they might have jumper cables. Walmart was less than a mile away, he could have offered to have someone drive us there to puchase a new battery. He did none of these things, we were pretty much on our own. Other than that, our stay was pleasant.
