I can't say enough about my experience at Candlewood Suites. Only problem was the "energy control" device on the thermostat. I have no problem with the device shutting off the air when I'm out of the room, BUT it seems to be motion sensitive, so when I went to bed and got still, it would shut off the air making it stuffy for sleeping. That's quite insane, still laughing over the thing. That needs adjustment, but other than that was a great place to stay would highly recommend!

I wanted a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to "live" while I was on business in SLC for a week - and that's exactly what I got. I was pleasantly surprised at the room - in addition to the usual microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker, there was also a cooking surface and a toaster. And all were spotless. The room had a nice layout, and was quiet. And when I needed to check out a little late, they were very accommodating. In fact, the entire staff was friendly and helpful
If you'd like for me to stretch and think of some negatives, here's the worst I can come up with:
1. the pantry where you can buy food was a little short on healthy items
2. the bed had one of those European style blanket/comforters, which always gets me way too warm - I actually went out and bought a cheap blanket after my first night
3. the television seemed to have an auto-darkening feature, so if you watch with the lights off, it gets dim..

I like the IHC group when I travel on business and the Candlewood in Salt Lack City continued my positive feelings. Everything was very clean and quiet. The people were very helpful and made my experience very positive. I will stay there again.

We were in town for an extended family visit and this hotel provided a convenient, comfortable place to stay with kitchenette, wi-fi, exercise room and a 24 hour "cupboard" stocked with snacks, drinks and frozen foods. Reasonably priced - very good value.

Have occasions to host a suite at the arena. Have found this to be a great location for accessing the area quckily and easily, plus it is near the airport for early departures
This was the second stay, they are always friendly and will choose it again for future stays

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Love all the extras
Free laundry (multiple washers, driers, detergent, etc.) - makes things really easy and hassle free
Gym facilities - Good to find a decent gym available
Honor system - makes you feel valued. Also great that all items were reasonably priced.
Room Facilities - kitchenette makes traveling easier
Close by the Red Iguana - best Mexican I've every had!
DID NOT LOVE:
The bathroom stank of cigarette smoke - REALLY REALLY BAD
The front desk girl just gave me a bottle of 'deodorizer' to fix it, no apology or anything... she didn't seem to care too much.
Funny that there is a $250 cleaning fee if you smoke in a room, but no compensation if someone else does.
The rest of the room was fine and clean.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LynK Nice hotel
We had one of the studio's for our 3 day stay. We were unaware that it is a "extended stay" hotel so there is no daily housekeeping.....so after long days out enjoying SLC it was kind of blah coming back to a unmade hotel room. Other then the lack of house keeping it was a very nice and friendly hotel to stay at. For the price we paid we could of stayed at a cheaper place and got the daily housekeeping.

Candlewood got it right. Finaly a bed that did not feel like sleeping on a sheet of plywood. Best nights sleep I've had in a hotel in 40 years. Great service and amenities too

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Michigander19 Excellent room but shuttle service should be run in house.
Room, facilities and service were all excellent until we had to wait almost an hour for transport to the airport even though we scheduled the trip the night before. Outside service was unreliable. Staff called the service 3 times and were told each time that the shuttle would be there in a few minutes. Staff finally called a taxi but 10 minutes later the shuttle arrived. Get you staff certified to drive your own shuttle.

The location is very convenient - close to airport and grocery shopping, not that far from downtown either. I'm happy with everything but the hostess name Stacy is unfriendly, lazy and lying.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Burntwick Poor Design & Unknowledgeable Help
The facility itself has a terrible floor design. The front entrance has a single door that must be manually opened. The check-in area has NO room for more than two people... so multiple arrivals have to wait outside. The people who were long term guests there couldn't even get to their rooms through the main entrance with all of their groceries while four families with children were waiting to check-in. One elevator for 84 rooms on floors two & three! Located in an off area. Food and drinks located in the laundry room. Parking is ill arranged at front door area.
Pillows need to be replaced...old and very thin. A glass, glass in the bathroom that is generally wiped out and a clean lid put back on it is very unsanitary.
Desk staff was not acquainted with eating places and did not have a pleasant, helpful attitude about the subject. Was not able to help other guests with questions they had and was also totally ignorant about one of the famous drawing cards for those visiting of the Mormon faith. Did not even offer to look information up to help them and pointed them to some ridiculous literature positioned under a little side table. Informed the housekeeping staff who was new that week that all of the pillows were the same, but the three that were sent to our room to pick from were all made of different stuffing materials!!! Three pillows for two people on the bed when we arrived. We asked for a third floor room---no rooms available. We said no pets and no smoking. Most of the level one rooms were for pets! There should be specific rooms for pets. Specific rooms for smokers! Specific rooms for handicapped. Once those pets and smokers are filled SORRY we do not have any available---no exceptions.
Our reservations were made far enough in advance that our requests should have been marked down. We are loyal clients of the Holiday Enterprise Line of Facilities. Our reward was our choice (for two of us)---one 50 cent soda!!!!! Two bottles of water would have been a better reward.

The rooms were a good size and a good value. I really wanted to get one queen room and a second room with two double beds, but that wasn't an option. Also, I was disappointed that there was no pool, no restaurant and no housekeeping services while we were there. Overall, it was okay, but I don't know if I'd stay again.

I was joyfully surprised at how nice Candlewood. The bed was very comfortable which meant a lot to me considering I really needed my sleep to be at my best for a work event. The room was very clean and well stocked and the location of Candlewood was very convenient to get to and to leave from.
I will stay there again the next time I am in Salt Lake City.

beyond the initial disappointment of not even having a 'lobby' but instead just a hallway to check in, i had nothing but issues with the billing for my reservation. i was initially charged the total amount of the stay for the 3 rooms. then charged again for the total stay for one room then upon checking out learned that my colleague was charged again for her stay and i was again charged for the stay.
after about 30 minutes with your staff, i'm still not sure everything is straightened out. now i have to continually check my credit card statement to ensure i wasn't overcharged.
oh also, neither of my two colleagues had any shampoo in their rooms and i had a half used bottle of body soap.

My wife needed to make an early morning flight and I needed to wait for a late afternoon flight. The staff gave me a late check out and arranged for the free shuttle to be there to take my wife to the airport at 4:00 am and me at 1:45 pm. The room was clean. The order in pizza they offered was delicious and the cold refrigerater kept the left overs fresh for the next day. Our dog did not have to go far to find a good place to walk! Very pet friendly.

Candlewood Suites have become my go-to and preference when traveling, both for business and pleasure. Most recently my family and I took a 14 day road trip in which we stayed primarily at the IHG family of hotels. Candlewood Suites were always a favorite for my wife and kids who enjoyed the facilities and amenities offered. All our future trips will hopefully include Candlewood!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Candygram4Mongo2 Good enough to be my home away from home
I stay at this hotel every time I visit SLC. I've stayed at numerous other hotels around SLC but have decided this Candlewood is the best value.
First thing is that the staff is engaged, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I've attempted to check in early on numerous occasions and have only been turned away once. When my online travel agent says their full, I'll try to call the desk and if there's a room, I get it.
Second thing is that the facility has been recently renovated. It's one of the quietest hotels I've ever stayed in. Unless my neighbors are being VERY noisy, I'm usually unaware that I have any neighbors.
Third, the beds are amazingly comfortable. I don't know if that's because they're fairly new or just superb quality. Either way, between the low noise from the neighbors and the great bed I get a GREAT night's sleep.
Fourth, this place is clean. I stay at a lot of hotels with kitchenettes. It's not unusual for me to have to put the room's dishes through the dishwasher as soon as I check in. At the SLC Candlewood I've never found a dirty dish. Ditto for the bedding and towels. Everything's clean.
Overall it's a tremendous value. The Marriott Residence Inns are more full-featured and have bigger suites, but their beds AREN'T as comfortable and it's not worth paying 3-4 times as much as I'm paying to stay here.

Very nice Staff! Amber was very helpful, compassionate and very professional!
I originally had a reservation made same day for this location, but was unable to make it due to troubles with a trailer I rented. I called this location late that very night I was supposed to be there and Amber cancelled the reservation free of charge. That is what I considet great customer service.
Thank you for the great experience, definitely recommend staying here.
