The facility itself has a terrible floor design. The front entrance has a single door that must be manually opened. The check-in area has NO room for more than two people... so multiple arrivals have to wait outside. The people who were long term guests there couldn't even get to their rooms through the main entrance with all of their groceries while four families with children were waiting to check-in. One elevator for 84 rooms on floors two & three! Located in an off area. Food and drinks located in the laundry room. Parking is ill arranged at front door area.
Pillows need to be replaced...old and very thin. A glass, glass in the bathroom that is generally wiped out and a clean lid put back on it is very unsanitary.
Desk staff was not acquainted with eating places and did not have a pleasant, helpful attitude about the subject. Was not able to help other guests with questions they had and was also totally ignorant about one of the famous drawing cards for those visiting of the Mormon faith. Did not even offer to look information up to help them and pointed them to some ridiculous literature positioned under a little side table. Informed the housekeeping staff who was new that week that all of the pillows were the same, but the three that were sent to our room to pick from were all made of different stuffing materials!!! Three pillows for two people on the bed when we arrived. We asked for a third floor room---no rooms available. We said no pets and no smoking. Most of the level one rooms were for pets! There should be specific rooms for pets. Specific rooms for smokers! Specific rooms for handicapped. Once those pets and smokers are filled SORRY we do not have any available---no exceptions.
Our reservations were made far enough in advance that our requests should have been marked down. We are loyal clients of the Holiday Enterprise Line of Facilities. Our reward was our choice (for two of us)---one 50 cent soda!!!!! Two bottles of water would have been a better reward.

The rooms were a good size and a good value. I really wanted to get one queen room and a second room with two double beds, but that wasn't an option. Also, I was disappointed that there was no pool, no restaurant and no housekeeping services while we were there. Overall, it was okay, but I don't know if I'd stay again.

I was joyfully surprised at how nice Candlewood. The bed was very comfortable which meant a lot to me considering I really needed my sleep to be at my best for a work event. The room was very clean and well stocked and the location of Candlewood was very convenient to get to and to leave from.
I will stay there again the next time I am in Salt Lake City.

beyond the initial disappointment of not even having a 'lobby' but instead just a hallway to check in, i had nothing but issues with the billing for my reservation. i was initially charged the total amount of the stay for the 3 rooms. then charged again for the total stay for one room then upon checking out learned that my colleague was charged again for her stay and i was again charged for the stay.
after about 30 minutes with your staff, i'm still not sure everything is straightened out. now i have to continually check my credit card statement to ensure i wasn't overcharged.
oh also, neither of my two colleagues had any shampoo in their rooms and i had a half used bottle of body soap.

My wife needed to make an early morning flight and I needed to wait for a late afternoon flight. The staff gave me a late check out and arranged for the free shuttle to be there to take my wife to the airport at 4:00 am and me at 1:45 pm. The room was clean. The order in pizza they offered was delicious and the cold refrigerater kept the left overs fresh for the next day. Our dog did not have to go far to find a good place to walk! Very pet friendly.

Candlewood Suites have become my go-to and preference when traveling, both for business and pleasure. Most recently my family and I took a 14 day road trip in which we stayed primarily at the IHG family of hotels. Candlewood Suites were always a favorite for my wife and kids who enjoyed the facilities and amenities offered. All our future trips will hopefully include Candlewood!

I stay at this hotel every time I visit SLC. I've stayed at numerous other hotels around SLC but have decided this Candlewood is the best value.
First thing is that the staff is engaged, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I've attempted to check in early on numerous occasions and have only been turned away once. When my online travel agent says their full, I'll try to call the desk and if there's a room, I get it.
Second thing is that the facility has been recently renovated. It's one of the quietest hotels I've ever stayed in. Unless my neighbors are being VERY noisy, I'm usually unaware that I have any neighbors.
Third, the beds are amazingly comfortable. I don't know if that's because they're fairly new or just superb quality. Either way, between the low noise from the neighbors and the great bed I get a GREAT night's sleep.
Fourth, this place is clean. I stay at a lot of hotels with kitchenettes. It's not unusual for me to have to put the room's dishes through the dishwasher as soon as I check in. At the SLC Candlewood I've never found a dirty dish. Ditto for the bedding and towels. Everything's clean.
Overall it's a tremendous value. The Marriott Residence Inns are more full-featured and have bigger suites, but their beds AREN'T as comfortable and it's not worth paying 3-4 times as much as I'm paying to stay here.

Very nice Staff! Amber was very helpful, compassionate and very professional!
I originally had a reservation made same day for this location, but was unable to make it due to troubles with a trailer I rented. I called this location late that very night I was supposed to be there and Amber cancelled the reservation free of charge. That is what I considet great customer service.
Thank you for the great experience, definitely recommend staying here.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ihatenicknames Nice, but...
Reservation made for "Standard Room". For most hotels these days, that means TWO QUEEN BEDS in a room. Get to hotel and not only do they NOT have a room with two beds, they have NO KING SIZE BEDS for couples!!! We cancelled our upcoming return reservation and stayed elsewhere for our return trip.
This is a useful place only if you want the apartment complex atmosphere. It is the type of place you would rent for a week or more. The staff was friendly, but the lack of choice for room preference lowers this hotel's rating considerably. Also, no breakfast unless you BUY from their store!!

the hotel is fine, clean, & very well priced for the value they give you but I found the receptionist to be very unfriendly & not customer service focused.
I was never greeted as a Platinum Priority Club member. Additionally, the fact sheet of the hotel was not provided to me as it should be. She also asked me to fill out my data & when I advised her that all these data are in my profile and accessible on her computer, she raised her voice and told me, "All Right".
Vow, I am probably twice her age, a Platinum member of this company and she treated me like a child. That is GREAT SERVICE. I will make sure I don't contribute to her income at this hotel anymore.
She also never went over the fact sheet of the hotel and I had to ask her about the Candlewood Suites since this was my first ever visist to this type of property.
If she worked for my company, she would be looking for another job in a hurry. So stay out of this hotel.

I have been traveling a lot for my job lately.
This entire team made me feel welcome and were very accomidating with regards to assisting me when I was stranded an extra day due to the snow storm.
I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ManfredWonderDog Don't believe what they tell you about the shuttle!
Prior to making my reservation, I called the hotel and specifically inquired about the shuttle to the airport. I asked if it ran 24/7. I was told yes. I asked again, because I told them I had an early flight. Again, I was told yes.
The answer is really NO! It STARTS at 4:15, but it can show up as late as 4:30 because of other hotel stops. That was TOO LATE for my flight. So I had to get a taxi!. I had to pay for a taxi because the shuttle that the hotel supposedly had, did not run 24/7 as I was told.
I do not expect much from hotels except a clean, safe room. But on occasion, I need the shuttle to the airport. This was important to me. The hotel failed me.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by EdwardC Bad Internet
During my three day visit the Internet service had major issues. It remained bad over the entire stay and it appeared that neither the staff or the providing company was in a rush to correct the issues. In one conversation with front desk staff the comment 'a lot of people are complaining' was made so I was not alone. Fortunately I had Internet thru a personal cell phone but I dislike using a personal allowance for business when service should be available.

Arrived SLC after midnight. It was at least 1am by the time we checked in. Late check-out at 2pm was offered, accepted and most humbly appreciated. We were thrashed.
We were blown away by the suite! So many amenities...we would have stayed longer if we didn't have an outgoing flight the following afternoon. Staff was very friendly and the suite was awesome! It was just like home away from home. I highly recommend Candlewood Suites and will no longer stay at any other high-end places. We're hooked!!
