Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by oiuf Fairly good place to stay
The room was quite nice for my purposes. It had a large desk and plentiful outlets. There were sufficient items in the kitchen for basic cooking, and more unique items were available from a common area (I don't remember what all, but I do recall there was a crock pot). You can check out DVDs from the front desk for free.
The one drawback is that it's right next to a train station, so in the early morning, the train disturbed my sleep.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tercarjon Convenient location for sight seeing
The suites are very nice and it is convenient to the train station to take excursions. The convenience of being able to cook in your own room makes traveling easier so you don't have to eat out daily. The suite had absolutely everything you would need to be comfortable for a lengthy stay. We had a few hiccups with internet, but overall a great stay.

The suite provided a feeling of being home during my long business trip. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Loved being able to prepare my own meals and do my own washing.
Very convenient for travel (Caltrain station next door with taxi rank) and the surrounding area was pretty and felt safe for walking in.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by greg1111 too much cut down in room cleaning
this hotel has the average Candlewood facilities. Front desk was friendly and tried to meet our needs.
However, it has tried to cut down the cleaning service so much that it has become a self-service hotel. During the two weeks stay here, we only received one full service cleaning and one "light touch" service. It was supposed to offer one full service cleaning every week. The staff was so confused about the cleaning schedule that we did not get any cleaning in the 2nd week.
We also had problems with shower head. The maintenance did not do a good job repair it. I had to do it myself.
So it was a place "feeling like home" in the sense that you had to do everything yourself, cleaning, repair, etc. Could be a new tag line for Candlewood...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Supamans_Dad No Worries!
The hotel is in a great location for anyone wanting to have instant access to Santa Clara University. The hotel also provides an easy and inexpensive location for commuting throughout Silicon Valley.
I have stayed at the hotel on several occasions and have always found the staff to be congenial and helpful. During my last stay, my family and I had the opportunity to meet Fritzie Duque. Mrs. Duque was beyond helpful, she was downright wonderful. Her entire presentation was warm and inviting and my family and I felt like we had met a long lost friend. Thanks to the affable and personable treatment of employees like Mrs. Duque, we will no doubt stay at the hotel in the future.
P.S. The hotel is located only a few hundred feet from the train station but the train does not run all night so getting a good night's sleep is still possible. For us the train was a small inconvenience which was easily outweighed by the location, the customer service and staff like Fritzie Duque.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SCU Dad Train Noise is a Major Issue
I have stayed here numerous times, but this is the first time that I ever had a room on the back side of the hotel facing the train tracks. I won't accept a room there again - the trains are too close and too noisy ( notwithstanding that the front desk advises that nobody complains about the noise since the double windows were installed). And the ever-present large gathering of smokers at the front entrance is a bit of a turnoff. Otherwise, the place is clean and convenient.

We have used Candlewood Suites for the past five years on a regular basis, and love this place. It is convenient to Santa Clara University (directly across the street), and is quiet, clean, and welcoming for the leisure traveler or the business traveler.
The staff is wonderful and responsive, and the room are comfortable enough for a long stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by aksiva Ants and no Daily room cleaning
Ants were in the room. When I complained, they spray ant killer inside the room. I Can't stay in the room because of its smell. I was thrown away when they say there is no room cleaning every day. They do it once a week. They don't put your bed or new towels or toiletries every day. I didn't like this to see dirty towels and bed lying there for a week. They don't pick trash too daily. Only plus is location

I believe this is the fourth time we have stayed here. We will stay here again in the future. Nearby Starbucks, bagel shop, and sandwich shop are good for breakfast or lunch. Kitchen is very useful as is free laundry room.
We had to move a recliner chair to another part of the room since I kept walking into it when getting into the bed.
Plenty of table/desk space. Good HDTV with quite a few HD channels including HBO.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
The room is like a studio apartment. Candlewood has become our West Coast home when visiting family there.

Overall the experience was very good, thanks to Hotel manager who helped us to solve the initial reservation issues and gave us the right room. Our stay was very comfortable and the cleanliness of the hotel was good and other than a small issue of drainage clogging in the room which was fixed late it was a excellent stay and we will sure return back to the hotel.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dissatisfied2014! The noise from the train is a deal breaker
The staff had difficulty at check in and check out. The little store was pitiful. The noise and vibration from the train was completely unacceptable. The train runs all night! You hear the rumble, the horn blows and your bed shakes. I can't imagine this hotel gets any repeat business. We considered forfeiting our deposit and moving to another hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Greneyegirl Friendly and comfortable
This was my first time at a Candlewood Suites Hotel; the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hallways and front lobby were clean. The landscape was neat and manicured. The bed was comfortable and the room was just the right size. I loved the free movies available at the front desk and the free parking. During my stay the guest above me began to make loud stomping noises that lasted past 11pm, I alerted the front desk and they were very concerned and ensured me that the noise would stop, so I would enjoyed the remainder of my stay. Cons: The commuter train that passes behind hotel begins at 6am, PST, it wasn’t a huge disturbance, but during rush hours of 3pm-8pm PST the train would pass frequently and blow the whistle so having the window open or closed while watching television or talking on the phone was a little difficult. But OVERALL I will return and I enjoyed my stay.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SHY1979 Just like home
This is a great hotel if you are looking for a place just like home. It is quiet and clean with well design highly efficient rooms. I like having a kitchen and the ability to cook. It is also great having two rooms which allowed privacy for my family. We also brought our two dogs since this is a dog friendly hotel which is also a plus for us.
Staff was very nice. The hotel has a great after hours check in system which was especially great since we did not arrive until after midnight. There is also a vhs/dvd player in the room and free movie check out at the front desk.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Flowergirl1 Great recliner and desk area
I was a little leery of this property because of the price (it was almost too reasonable), but it was in a very quiet area, and within walking distance to SCU. A couple of fast food places nearby, and Starbucks across the parking lot (always a plus). There seemed to be alot of confusion with the computers at the front desk, and very slow on check-in. No recogition of my status as a member, and the desk clerk checked me into a room that was already occupied! She rectified the error, and I found the room to be very clean and comfortable. Check out left me with someone else's bill (which I didn't realize until I was at the airport). Short story --- nice property, but they need to update/ train their staff on their computer system.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SeaJay820 Great Staff, Good Value
The staff was excellent. Having the fully furnished kitchen made it easy for me to prepare meals and make lunches for the following day. That is a great cost savings for travel. The check out was a little more difficult because I checked out early in the morning. I did not make that clear to the staff so that they could have my bill prepared the day before. But the night staff was courteous and handled it expeditiously.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by biztraveler122 HOUSEKEEPING NEEDS BETTER TRAINING
This property is nicely kept and I have stayed here before.
Parking was not monitored properly, so that non-residents from a game at SCU nearby took most of the desirable spots.
I had expressly notified for a late checkout at 2pm. However, at 1 pm the Housekeeping Supervisor banged on my door rather loudly. When I opened, she wanted to know when I was checking out. I was mad and asked her that should she not find it out from her Management, rather than disturb the customer when he has a DO NOT DISTURB sign posted. She offered no apologies and just left mumbling to herself.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by alaskamarc Best Place to Stay While Visiting Santa Clara University
We love certain things about this Candlewood and wish other things could be improved.
Good: It is the closest motel to Santa Clara Unviversity; the property looks good; the rooms are clean; the kitchens work well; the bed is good; it has an outdoor place to barbecue; there are lots of power outlets in each room; the staff is helpful and friendly.
Bad: It doesn't have a pool; there is no complimentary breakfast (but Starbucks and Cramers Bagels are right next door); the sofa sleepers are terrible; the WiFi can be slow.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KStandlee Nice Room, but Beware the Wired Internet
While wi-fi is apparently the default connection method for everyone these days, I prefer a wired connection when I get it because it's generally faster and more secure, and I move large files around as part of my job. The advertised wired internet here did not connect, the phone tech support couldn't fix it, and the hotel staff seem unconcerned ("Just use the wi-fi"). Well, yes, I did use the wi-fi when the wired connections didn't work, but that's not the point. If you advertise wired connections in the rooms, you should make sure they work; it was a selling point on why I stayed there.
On the positive side, the location is incredibly convenient to the Caltrain station (across the parking lot), and when my travel plans changed, it was easy to check out one day early.
