The lobby is elegant, but when we got to the rooms, the rugs were stained and the grout was dirty

Mixed feeling about this hotel

October 28, 2014

The front desk staff were nice and friendly except the lady who checked me out. When I asked her how many nights I stayed, she asked me to look the bill myself. I would not think this is a proper communication skill in a hospitality industry.

I was in the room one day when the cleaning crew came. I asked her if she can come back in an hour; she said ok. She never showed up on that day. Another night I came back, they forgot to leave a floor rug in the bathroom.

My worst experience was dining in Jefferson House. I was the first guest to dine over there at that night; I waited almost 40 minutes and did not get my order. The restaurant was not full at all, it was nearly empty. When my dish came, it was overcooked. The pork tenderloin ($23) tasted like cardboard. I had to send it back to kitchen. In addition, the waiter did not even bother to provide me a glass of water after I switched table to avoid the cold breeze. I was suprised that almost every plate (steak, chicken...) had the same sides (asparagus and potato). I felted I was eating in the college cafeteria but paying the premium price.

Other than those, this hotel has a nice view of Detroit River and very close to Cobo center and walkable distance to other part of downtown. Most of the front desk staff are nice and helpful.
