My first stay in the CP Houston Reliant, and were it not for the extreme traffic noise from the highway, and the fact that I am a light sleeper, the rooms I stayed in were both well appointed, comfortable and clean. The only reason why I moved rooms was to accommodate my wishes to be in the back, rather than at the front of the hotel in building one, the tower. I think if the management were to make a future investment in putting either double glazed windows, or adding an extra single pane set to the interior of the window wells, I would have dlepped like a baby. Restaurant food in the bar was fair, breakfast was great and the service in the restaurant superb. My compliments to all the staff. I do travel for business a lot, and I realize people have high expectations when traveling, but for an average 140-150/night and given the location, I think this is fair value. February 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Yearly visitors to this hotel We stay at your hotel every year at this time for one night. Overall the hotel needs some renovations in the rooms. Good to see security since the area is kinda unsafe looking. The shower needed the ceiling tiles replaced badly. Probaly gonna to look for a new place next year. February 27, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by needs to be renovated First off, there is not a separate room for getting ready or with a sitting area. We were told there was and when we saw the room and called the front desk we were told that the people that book the rooms get that wrong all the time and that was it. And they made a big deal about the room being in the tower.... we could not figure out why because the view was of the building and the room was small. The bathroom is VERY small and has old stains and rust on the ceiling, not very pleasant. But the shower was the worst! Every 2 mins the water went from hot to cold... It was impossible to get a decent temperature to last. We had a discounted rate for MD Anderson, which was way more than it was worth. They try to give the impression of a high quality hotel....maybe 20 years ago. We will not stay there again. February 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My stay at Crowne Plaza I really love staying at the Crowne Plaza at Reliant Center. The staff is GREAT. I needed special food and the manager helped to make sure I got it. The bed is Great. The rooms are quiet and I was very comfortable there without the worries of "problems". I wouldn't stay there at all if it was not for the FREE shuttle (with the exception of tips). The shuttle is always on time and makes sure you get to your destination safely. I have stayed there several times going back and forth to MD Anderson and it has helped to know that I can stay there and the medical rate helps so much. I understand that the rates are different at different times of the year, but it would be great if they had ONE rate that you can know what you will be spending. I live 7 hours away and it is a huge financial burden to have to go so many times. This is a huge help. Thank you, Crowne Plaza! February 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed There was NO place to hang clothing in bathroom. Also the shower seat was NOT placed properly. It is 90• out of sync. The last room we rented had a microwave and mini-fridge. This room didn't. Very unhappy for what we paid. We will NOT recommend nor stay in the Crowns Plaza anytime in the near future. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location for MDAnderson services This is a nice Crown Plaza although I think it's a bit overpriced even with the MDA rate. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are nice- but the bathroom is very dim- the lighting is horrible. The air conditioner- although we did not have it on- made some sort of noise all night long. It was just enough to bother your sleep- but not enough to change rooms in the middle of the night. We were only here for one quick night as our first choice- the Holiday Inn Express was booked. I am a patient at M.D, Anderson and have to come down several times a year usually in February, march, april, and August. I'm a single father with three children that loves this hotel. I only wish the rates and room availabilty didnt change so much during februrary and march due to the cookoff and things. Six years ago when I was dignosed with cancer I begain to check with several hotels in that area to find a place to stay. I was assured there would always be room for guest that were medical patients. My children consider this to be "their" hotel and were very upset last year to see "their" hotel treated like a barn during the cookoff by people that will only be there one time a year. Saturday morning before my trip to the hospital they were out at six a.m. picking up after these one time a year guest. As I said i understand this is a business but may i suggest that all the money you make during this time a year to try to use some of it to hire security to help take better care of "our " home away from home so that when we are lucky enough to get a room there it will be as nice as usual. I dont mean to complain but just please take care of our home untill we get back. February 15, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lacking simple convenience. My main complaint was lack of vending or store. I got to my room after a long day realizing I needed a bottle of water. Follow the vending sign on the 8th floor, only vending was ice. Went down to the 7th floor, same thing. I went down to the front desk and she told me "through the double doors" . All I found was a seperate building. Again, all I wanted was a bottle of water and go to bed. I went back to the front desk and this time she told me to go to the bar. I waited for 10 minutes for a very busy bartender and decided I would drink the tap water, which was worse than expected. Not sure how a hotel like this doesn't have vending or a store.
