Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by pete12345 Pleasant and helpful staff
(1) Room bathroom not as clean as it should have been.
(2) Gabage bags from housekeeping accumulated and "dumped" in hallway alcove and stairwell waiting for collection. Not a good Look!
(3) Swimming pool had "body fat and oils" accumulated along tile margins giving a poor impression of cleaning concerns.
(4) Room balcony growing grass between tiles and adjacent balcony. Poor impression of maintenance.
(5) worst rib-eye steakwe have ever eaten. Despite being asked "how would you like it?" it was not cooked how we requested. It was poor quality, full of fat and cartlidge.
On a positive note, the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

We needed a quick break. We are from Sydney and wanted to take our 3 kids away for 2 nights. Anywhere with a pool and a 2 hour drive was the brief. We stayed pool side the entire time. Our kids had an absolute ball. We relaxed. We didn't venture out once (we've been to the Hunter many times without kids). Our days consisted of epic buffet breakfasts, swim swim swim, we made lunch in our villa, swim swim swim, late dinner (fabulous steak in their restaurant one night and room service the following night), in-house movies. Happy happy family. The staff are gorgeous, every one of them a pleasure to deal with. Sure, you'll find the odd thing to criticise, but 3 weeks since my stay now, I can't remember what they were so they were only minor! I'll be back!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ginandian One small disappointment
While all other aspects of our stay were excellent (as usual) i feel on this occasion that aspects of The Lovedale left a loy to be desired.
Firstly, the quality of the "beer based cocktails" on offer was extremely low. They were bordering on undrinkable. Also, not having the outside bar open until lunchtime on Sunday (when most weekend guests were leaving!) made ordering drinks at the pool very slow. During a hot summer weekend with a concert crowd packed in the pool on friday and saturday, demanded that this bar be open. Also the quality of the house Lovedale wines was also unforgivably low. In one of the worlds premier wine regions I'm sure that a better (but still affordable) semillon could be sourced from a local supplier.
In the end these are just minor disappointments of what is obviously a new facility in an otherwise excellent resort.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Flemo80 Great pool, good breakfast
Lovely new hotel, good amenities and helpful staff. I think on an afternoon the pool bar needs to open so you don't have to get dressed to go into the bar inside by the pool to order drinks and food. Other than that, great place to stay for winery tours or just relaxing

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nath89 Excellent accomadation, great grounds, perfect location
This is an excellent place to stay if you want to be central to the vineyards, activities, and for peace and quiet. It was a very relaxing stay, being very distant off the main road you cannot hear a peep in the night. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The facilities were great, and the staff were very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend the Crowne Plaza. Thanks again!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Alice07 Great for families
Conveniently located, friendly and accommodating staff, enjoyed the food, caters adequately for 'free everything' food types, large room, light and airy, nice spa, huge pool, golf course, in fact, everything you would wish for in a family type holiday, except we were travelling as a couple, on a long weekend, during the school holidays. Definitely stay here if you are a family and love sports, esp golf. If not, I am sure there are quieter accommodation options in the Hunter. But for the constant children type noises, we really liked this place.

Room ok. Efficient check in. We were looking forward to the wine tasting in the bar on Saturday night. Apparently the winemaker hasn't turned up. The sign was still there, along with the glasses. No apology. Apparently, it happens quite a bit.
Next day, went to breakfast. Very long queue to get a ticket (20 minute wait) to then sit down and wait for a table. Quite unacceptable. In my 30 years of travel around the world, this is a first. We've stayed a the Crowne Plaza quite a lot since it first opened, however, doubt that we will return. The staff that were on duty were very lovely. If customers are paying big money for hotel stays over public holiday weekends, then sufficient staff should be on duty.

Hi I would just like to say that this is our second visit with our young daughter and as usual the rooms were excellent. We stayed in villa 33. Beds felt luxurious as ever and rooms were cleaned well. My daughter who is 8 votes it as best hotel as she got her own room with tv! She wants to stay for 2 weeks next time.
Just a couple of things which could be better. There was at least one downlight in each room that was not working. Is this an energy saving measure, if so you should let us know next time. Fly screens were not able to be locked and could do with replacing.
My next comment is relating to the restaurants. They were ok however much better menu could really lift your hotel even further. We went to both Red Salt and Lovedale. Red Salt could have been more enticing and creative with its food. I can't remember what I had only that unfortunately it was not that memorable. Lovedale is your usual pub fare. I ordered something called Prawn linguine with chilli. It came out with noodles, prawns and no chilli with an overcooked prosciutto that did nothing for this dish. Everywhere we looked there appeared to be half eaten meals because of the overly large servings. Surely it would be better to give smaller portions and save on the wastage.
That's all, we hope to stay next time again with an even better experience. PS special mention to one of your staff, male who was at the Concierge and he made an effort each time to greet all the guests and get smiles from all the kids. Wonderful.

We love staying at the Crowne Plaza Huter Valley the 2 bed villa we had was great, very clean and spacious and the view onto the golf course was lovely.
The new restaurant opened whilst we were there and the menu was great, staff as excellent as ever, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lisa and Steph A little disappointed
Overall a good experience - a little disappointed with the housekeeping of the room used plates/cups were removed but not replaced. Empty cans of drink were left on bench etc. Rooms need more bins, and the lack of a proper fridge was inconvenient. Not what you would expect from a 4 1/2 star hotel. Staff however were very friendly (a big thank you to Ash at reception for her help) and would have probably helped with the problems above had we complained. Food and drinks were good in comparison to another 4 1/2 star hotel in the Hunter and decently priced.
Overall more amenities than other 4 1/2 star hotels in the area but in need of more attention from housekeeping. Made it more like a 3 star hotel at times.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lady golfer Enjoyable holiday
We stayed for 4 nights found the overall service very good, if we had to express a slight disappointment we would say The Red Salt Restaurant menu was too limited and not good value for money. The staff not as attentive to service as the bistro/pool staff and lacked some of the hospitality we received throughout the rest of the resort, we dined at Red Salt on our last night of stay (mainly because of the menu) and ordered the Wagyu beef requested well done and very well done which came out medium rare and 'just' well done. The Salad cost $7 and was the smallest bowl of 'greens' provided in the Hunter for the price we were disappointed also the wine was $5-$10 dearer than other venues (like for like), which is probably why the number of 'diners' were small by comparison to other venues we dined at and also why we saw other guests at the same restaurants as ourselves away from the resort. Overall the dinner we had at the bistro a night earlier was much better value for money and excellent in quality. The facilities around the pool have improved considerably since our last visit, so has the other recreational offerings. The decor and layout changes in the Bistro/Cafe/Bar are a big improvement and we feel much more appealing than previous. Families especially with children would love this venue. Being golfing enthusiasts and having played the course over many years and various owners we can see some improvements but with neighbouring courses paying more attention to their courses, we would suggest that complacency with the golf course would be to the detriment of the overall attraction for ourselves and our friends. The golf carts were dirty and in a poor state, small things like ice in the icebox, golf tees and cleanliness etc add to the experience and are offered at all the other 3 courses in the Hunter. As the Pro Shop was undergoing renovations we made an allowance for the lack of Product (old stock on sale only) and sadly as we have found on more than one occasion in the Pro Shop the staff seemed yet again to be uninterested. The new Brewery that was under construction looks like being a good attraction.

The family (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed at Crown Plaza Hunter Valley in a 2 bedroom villa in January. The villas are spacious and amongst the best I've stayed in. They are clean while the restaurant has moved forward nicely compared to our stay in 2013. The pool continues to be a hit with the kids. Nice!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tez87 Great stay but poor and slow hotel service
We really enjoyed our stay at the hunter valley, and the breakfast staff at the restraunt (Pamela especially) were amazing! However, the hotel staff and house keeping was disappointing. When we first checked in to the room, we noticed the bathroom had water all over the floor, so I rang to notify reception, who advised us that they would check this for us while we went out for lunch. When we got back from lunch, we spoke to reception who changed our room to a new one. That night I rang and advised the reception that we needed toilet paper, and that the tv antenna was not allowing us to view the tv, twice I rang, and both time they said they were on their way, but never ended up bringing us any toilet paper or checking the tv. This is one area your hotel needs improvement. Other then that disappointment, everything else was great!

We came to the Crowne Plaza with our 3 married children and 6 grandchildren to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary, and we were not disappointed. It was the perfect venue to relax, enjoy each others company, play some golf, have a massage, relax at the pool and celebrate with some good wine. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, our second visit and we will certainly come again.

When you make the effort to book a treatment at the Tea Tree Spa and then when you arrive to only find that they have not made the booking in their system is extremely disappointing.
It was unfortunate as overall we were enjoying our stay but unfortunately it just spoilt things at the end and that is what I remember.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MTBW173 Amazing buffet and pool is lovely
We came back for the buffet and stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with elderly parents - ask for the single level villa as both exist. Love the proximity to Hunter Valley, comfort and service. If using Kid's Club, book ahead of your stay as it is popular (evening kid's entertainment and meal is great).

Nice place to visit, Great location for winery tours. Rooms are clean and comfortable. great swimming pool area. I was at this hotel last year for new years as well and they had entertainment on for new years eve, but this year they had no entertainment except for the fireworks on the tv, this was a let down. They also did not except priority privilege at the lovedale downstairs where as last year they did.

Our stay for two nights at crown plaza hunter valley was excellent on the 5th Jan 2014. The only critics we have were taking more than an hour wait for dinner at Lovedale bar and the swimming pool were not impressively cleaned due to some children were having snacks and ice cream near the pool.
