Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff - Terrible TV reception and station selection ALL staff I interacted with were great. They remember me every time I return to the hotel. Do not plan on any quality TV while you are there. Reception is fuzzy an almost all channels and the number of actual channels available is very limited. Bathroom is tiny. Drink prices in the lounge are too high in my opinion. July 22, 2014

Spent most of my time in the meeting rooms which were attended to fairly regularly, refreshing water and coffee service. Restaurant food was delicious; service was not consistent; sometimes it was excellent and sometimes it was slow. But room service was always quick and hot. July 22, 2014

Special shout out for Jill from housekeeping who helped arrange for a new room when I realized I wasn't on the same floor as the meeting rooms, and without elevator service I would have had to haul numerous boxes up and down stairs. It is always clean with friendly staff and it is very conveniently located. The majority of the time they are able to accommodate special requests such as room location and early check in. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Older hotel I've stayed here for business before and find it well preserved. I did not like coming in for one night and the room fridge is unplugged. The notice on the fridge says it is done to save energy. I found that it meant I couldn't use it to store cold stuff I had. Furthermore, I would suggest that regular power on/off uses more energy than leaving it on. BTW - I really enjoyed the bed! March 24, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stay in Barrie We have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Barrie many times. Their rooms in the Executive Tower are fantastic. Unfortunately for this stay, we had one of the drive up rooms. The room itself was fine, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a cold night and the room was extremely cold. We boosted the heat up as high as it would go and we were still cold. The cold air was coming right through the patio doors. The cold affected our ability to relax and also interrupted our sleep. I would definitely stay there again, but not in a drive up room. This was not the first time that we had a drive up room and each time, we were not happy. The staff in the restaurant are outstanding. The food and service is excellent. The front desk staff are friendly. It is a great location and i would highly recommend it to any of my friends as long as they were not in a drive up room. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Needs a make over The Barrie Holiday Inn is the only facility in Barrie where you can stay, and get something to eat without going outside....which is a nice feature in snowy cold Barrie. The restaurant was excellent. They need more staff, as the two ladies that looked after the dining room and the bar were run off their feet. We have stayed there several times, and it's always the same. The rooms are tired. This place needs a major face lift. February 27, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hockey Tournament Purpose of our visit was for a hockey tournament. We have stayed at many hotels for tournaments before and this was one of the worst as far as a team stay. Our team was split into 2 different wings in the hotel with another competing team in-between. No hospitality suites, although the conference rooms where empty. Which lead to people parting in the halls to all hours. Nothing wrong with fun but in other hotels we have been given a room to contain the noise. We had to book via the tournament at a special rate but had to book 2 nights even if we where eliminated from the tournament. Yet we had family book separately that got the same rate. The kids where not aloud to play mini sticks in the halls, Other hotels have made a ministick arena in a conference room. I would think when you get people booking 30 room nights you would be more hospitable. February 12, 2014

Everywhere else in Canada have at least 1 channel in french (SRC) and much more channels on cable. When you,re alone in hotel room, you like to have good tv channels. January 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and staff in the restaurant We ended staying for dinner at the restaurant, it was Saturday night , they had a prime rib buffet. Very good, lot's of choices. The staff was especially nice, Jenny our server was very helpful and pleasant. It was my granddaughter's birthday, and Jenny had the chef make her a special bowl of birthday ice cream with a candle, and they sang Happy Birthday to her. We also had breakfast there the next morning and again had the buffet, which was good. The room was clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. Upon my arrival, there were a half dozen empty beer bottles left on the balcony outside of my room, the room reeked of cigarette smoke and the bathroom shower wall and floor were absolutely disgusting (both covered in hair and dirt). The staff at this hotel were not accommodating at all and the service was terrible. January 4, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Our mistake...but follow up, was a new experience The stay was great....But We had left something valuable behind in the room by mistake and only realized it when we got home. We called the hotel to ask them to check the room for us.. the front desk said just leave a voice mail with house keeping they will get back to you... this was within an hour of our 10am departure... Later that night we called the hotel again, and we're told again just leave a voice mail with house keeping... i was surprised by this... now 8 hours had gone by... the time to deal with the request we felt was right away... 2 days later we called again and the front desk was not helpful to say the least.. after some audible sighs to my wife's questions of when will we ever hear back.. she was told leave a voice mail with house keeping... The next day someone from house keeping called to say they did not find anything... 3 days later... Yes it was my mistake.. but I have not experienced this with other hotels... it would have taken a quick call with the walkie talkies I saw them use on check in, to a staff member to ensure the item was retrieved...instead... we are left with a sour taste and are out $250... Again my fault I should have never left the item behind.. lesson learned and experience remembered. Other then that the hotel was surprisingly up to date and looked in really good shape. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sleepless night!! My family and I travelled to the Barrie area on Saturday December 7th to do some Christmas shopping. I have used the holiday inn brand several times and had some reward points accumulated for this stay. When we went to our room, I noticed that there were several kids playing hockey in the hall. The parents were standing in a group drinking. It was 3 pm!! There was a hockey tournament in Barrie and I knew it would be a long night. Around 9 pm we got back to our room and the noise was unbearable!! Our young children were trying to sleep and could not due to the screaming kids and yelling parents. It was still early but we asked the front desk to ask them to quiet down a bit. The walls are paper thin and you could hear everything. The people in the room next to us we're having a conversation about a fellow players mother and how we'll she can perform certain tasks. The players were 10-15 years old with a parent in the room with them. They were all involved in the conversation and using profane language. My wife sat on the bed and made a video which could capture the whole conversation. It was as if they were in the room with us. Our kids got to hear the "play by play". We called the front desk again. Security came around and made a request for a second time. Security told us that they has a signed contract with the hockey group saying they would keep quiet and obey hotel policy. Yet the security told us this was the second night of problems with the same group. Awesome! This continued until 1 am. We called 4 times and had the same result each time. We called the front desk to request a refund. We were going to leave and drive a few hours to our hour. They said no refund!!! I decided to go out and have a conversation with the parents. I wasn't going to deal with this anymore. They decided to go to bed around 1:30 am. We finally got a few hours of sleep. I am extremely dissatisfied with the way this was handled for the following reasons: - the inability of the hotel to quiet the loud guests. - the reluctance of the hotel to I force the agreed upon contract after repeated warnings from security! Save the paper and don't bother with contracts if you are unwilling to hold people accountable. - the refusal of staff to give a refund or voucher considering the circumstances. - a guest having to take matters in their own hands (which is not the right thing to do) and silence the party. I frequently travel for work and have been using the holiday inn. There is lots of competition these days and it is service, or the lack of, that makes me reconsider my choice of hotel for future travel. If you properly deal with problems and put your customers first they will keep coming back. If you do not properly deal with issues and refuse to compensate your customers when they are wronged, then you lose business. Pretty simple actually! December 14, 2013
