Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed The hotel itself was very nice but the fact that only Valet parking was available & it was $16 a night, was a big disappointment. The valet staff were very cooperative, but it was just a hassle. Also our view of the dilapidated building next to the hotel was terrible. As PC members we would expect a better view. We loved walking to King St. even though you are right at the edge of the bad side of town. You can take the bus to the Battery but it is a far walk. Breakfast was not so good on Sunday & we had to wait a long time for our food. The staff behind the counter were very friendly, it was all things that are out of their control that we were not happy with. Loved the pool area. That was REALLY nice with a pretty view. We stayed free but if we had to pay for it, we would not be back... June 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NOT Worth the cost even for a rewards stay. Not up to even the BASIC Holiday Inn Standards.(No free parking, ($16.00/Day!) NO P/C coffee in the morning, ($2.50 for the coffee) No microwave in the room, safe didnt work, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE Block Long View! Next door to a rotting, delapidated, caving in Ice House to look at.) I was supprised they didnt charge us more for a, "View of the Ruins!". Not the greatest part of town. When we checked out, they would not honor the 10% breakfast coupon they gave us for the terrible breakkfast we had! I brought my wife for a good time, bragging about Holiday Inn and their Fine Service I have come to expect. Then this! Just didnt seem like The Holiday Inn's I know and Love, and I have been a P/C Platinum Member since 1983, and have stayed around the world! (Not my first HI stay.) Dont expect much from this Property as of Memorial day 2013. June 5, 2013

For the price of the rooms, you received nothing extra and the parking was crazy...Nothing but valet. On one occasion, we were waiting for our car, the valet said it was ready and when we went out to get in, it wasn't our car. We went one night with no towels or soap. The dining room was a little disappointing, the menu was very limited and they were closed for most of the day. May 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely spot We recently stayed for 2 nights, and were very impressed with the hotel. Valet parking is basically your only option, so factor in an extra $16/day. But friendly staff, eager to please and helpful. Because it is so new, everything is still fresh & undamaged. The decor and finishings are exceptionally well done. Room was clean and had virtually everything we could want. That said, glass glasses would be nice instead of plastic, and I enjoy a bath robe, but I understand these are just not Holiday Inn's style. We approve of the "no bath tub" concept whole heartedly. Giant shower was awesome. True, as others have noted, it is on the fringe of the historic district, but it's really only about a 15-20 minute walk to the heart of things (eg: Market Street). And if you take King Street, there's LOTS to see along the way. Our only real frustration & criticism relates to the restaurant. We ate breakfast there both mornings. A sign in the elevator promotes two "elevator specials" - the first for $7.95.... two eggs, toast, choice of bacon or sausage & coffee. No one in the restaurant seemed to know about is. The waiter the first morning had never heard of it. We got charged $8.95 + $2.50 for coffee. We spoke up, and they reversed the charge for coffee, but still charged $8.95. Nonetheless, it was fast & friendly. Morning #2 was horrible. We ordered both elevator specials. The second special is pancakes, with choice of bacon or sausage for $8.95. After ordering, we waited a good 25 minutes for breakfast to show up. Ridiculous. And when the pancakes finally came, the waitress was surprised to be told there was supposed to be bacon. The bill once again charged $2.50 for the coffee ordered with Special #1. By the time all was said and done with the poor service and bill corrections, we wasted almost an hour of what should have been travel time. May 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff was fantastic My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in Charleston. This was my wife's first visit to Charleston and she loved every minute of our trip. The trip was topped off by this wonderful Hotel. Upon our arrival, Tammy at the first desk, gave us a lot of useful advice and was prompt to give us recommendations for dinner and even made reservations for us! When we arrived later that evening, we were greeted by Brandon wanting to make sure that all of our needs were met. The following morning Nicole and Brandon made suggestions for our dinner and worked really hard to get reservations made for us, SHE DID. Later that evening Kristin found my lost purse and ME. She was just a delight. Patrick our waiter for breakfast was just as nice as he could be. I would highly recommend this Hotel. A little bit of a walk to downtown but will worth the extra walk. Staff was very friendly & gave me a fair spot rate. 100 meters from the hotel on the corner of King str & Spring st is a bike rental shop, perfect to enjoy Charleston on a sunny spring sunday! One problem..it is listed in "historic district", while it may be according to the zoning and a map...it is a huge walk to anywhere in the "main" area. Although there is a free shuttle in Charleston so that was help. But we booked this hotel thinking we would walk out the front door and be a short walk to bars, shops, restaurants. Great bathroom - loved the walk-in shower and the lighting - both in room and in the hallways was exceptional for a chain hotel. Front desk, valet and reataurant staff were welcoming and gracious in providing service. Although the location is not within easy walking to the historic area and restaurants in that section, the availability of the free DART service and the proximity to the Charleston Visitor Center made this a good choice afterall. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn College tour We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn on Meeting street and were pleasantly surprised. It had just been modernized, and wasn't like any previous HI we had stayed at. The building itself is light and airy and all the rooms had big windows. The beds were new and comfortable and the bathroom had a huge shower. It was clean, comfortable and definitely a step up. The staff at the front desk, especially Kristin, were very helpful - they went out of their way once they discovered it was our first trip. I wish room the restaurant and room service were open later than 10:00 however. We will definitely stay there again. May 1, 2013

We travel extensively with business and pleasure and always stay in Holiday Inn's and this is the nicest one we have ever stayed at any where in the country! Beautiful décor and design, super comfortable beds and very quiet. We had veranda off our room with a table and chairs and it was so nice to sit outside in the evening. The pool area was lovely! Service was exceptional and the valet service was great! We are looking forward to our next visit to beautiful Charleston! May 1, 2013

We liked the contemporary décor of the entire hotel, large walk-in shower, and especially the second floor outdoor pool which had a comfortable and appealing seating area. The contemporary décor, planters, etc. created a very relaxing environment. Also, you are shielded from the street below where there is construction going on and it's not in the best area of town. After a relaxing swim, we had cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and dinner ordered from your restaurant. The meals were overpriced for what we got. Also, at breakfast, we each ordered the two egg breakfast which came with only one piece of toast. We asked our waiter for a second piece, and he came back and said the chef told him he'd have to charge us extra! We've always gotten two pieces of toast for a two-egg breakfast everywhere we've travelled! Not a good move, as we decided to go elsewhere for breakfast the next morning. Also, the floors (tile?) in the guest room always looked dirty--poor choice of color! In addition, we are long-time priority club members and this was our 30th anniversary stay. The hotel never acknowledged this. The hotel where we stayed for two nights before coming to your hotel sent us champagne and choc.-dipped strawberries; as well as upgraded our room! April 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff We arrived in Charleston early in the morning and called the hotel to find out the earliest time we could check in. I spoke with the woman (I believe her name was Tiffany) who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Unfortunately, all the rooms were occupied the previous night so there weren't any available yet. However, she asked for a contact number and said she would call me as soon as a room was ready. To my relief, she called about an hour later and told us we could check in. Tiffany happened to be working at the front desk when we arrived and she was just as friendly as she was on the phone. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. I believe the hotel was recently renovated/built, so everything looked new. All the nightlife and restaurants of King Street are only 1 block away. April 28, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Hotel! You will enjoy your stay!! We were in town for a wedding and had a fantastic experience. The ENTIRE staff ( front desk, valet, cleaning etc.) Greeted us so warmly and took care of our every need. Tammy at the front desk went above and beyond. I inquired about a last minute hair appointment, and she called 5 salons in the area until she found one that could take me. She also gave us directions and recommended some great spots. The valet staff was so courteous and professional, and we never had to wait long for them to bring our car around. The entire hotel was clean, and well maintained. Our room was fantastic and we had everything we could possibly need. The hotel is just a short walk from king st. where there are all sorts of hot spots. We will DEFINITELY be back. Thank you again! The hotel is brand new the furnishing are what you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Comparable to some of the nicer properties in downtown Charleston. Nice library and very pretty pool deck. In keeping with Charleston’s culinary tradition the hotel has a highly rated restaurant and tapas bar with an unusual menu. It’s a short walk to everything and there is a free shuttle every 20 minutes or so if you don't want to walk. Would definitely recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed. April 24, 2013

Shower head was awesome, super power, able to unknot muscles after a long day. The breakfast was rather disappointing. Muffins were rather tough and no blackberry jam to help them out. Hashbrowns were a joke! I'm in the south and they serve frozen hashbrown patties which reminded me of McDonalds. April 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bit of a walk to town, but nice relaxing classy hotel Hotel is new, fresh, and upscale. Staff makes you feel VIP at every turn. Location is a 1/2 hour walk to market area, but the walk along either King or Meeting streets is enjoyable. Free trolley is available up to 9:00 PM as a viable option. Immediate neighborhood is evolving, but is ok with great restaurant options. Hotel restaurant could use improvement. We had breakfast there 3 times to save time, but food quality and timeliness left a lot to be desired, especially with several quality choices in the area. It had only been opened a couple of months and everything was sparkling and pristine. We booked a suite and were very impressed with the layout and the spaciousness. Bed very comfortable. The desk staff, maid service, bartender, hostess, restaurant staff dnd valet crew - who knew how to give directions and were very charming and handsome - that's a plus right there!! Dinner was awsome, and I cannot even begin to describe it, but will say it was one of the top 10 dinners I have had in my life. It may not sound like something that would hit the top 10 list, but it did...bacon wrapped pork tenderloins!!! It My husband raved about his steak dinner. Only wish we could have stayed longer as we love Charleston. April 13, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A bit of a hike to the center of Historic Area, but a great value! We are a healthy 60's something couple who knew we wanted to be in the Historic Area. We were easily able to walk back and forth from the hotel, and sometimes were lucky enough to catch the free shuttle--which sometimes follows a schedule. Also, during March, we found that taking our car in and out for some side trips, and even dinner in the tourist area, was convenient and was included in the reasonably priced parking fee. The hotel is brand new, clean and a bit of an oasis in the immediate area. The Aiken-Rhett House--a fabulous home-- is very close by, though. We definitely appreciated the value offered by the hotel! I assumed it was because I was using my Priority Rewards points for this stay. Perhaps if I was a paying customer I would have been treated better. It is away from the melee of downtown but just an easy 15 minute walk to it all and an easy 5 fives up to King Street where you will find the hip and happening bar scene. The rooms are lovely, the staff super friendly and helpful and the pool area gorgeous. Why not indulge and get away to a lovely spot without mortgaging the house and treat yourself to a wonderful downtown experience. April 6, 2013

No service all around except for valet. Cars are on lifts so you have no access to your car unless you have a valet get your car so you can get an item from the trunk - very inconvenient. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed with location As a platinum member, I stay quite frequently at IHG properties for both business and pleasure. I stayed at the Charleston Historic Downtown hotel for two nights from March 29-31, 2013 to see the sites, and was rather disappointed. The hotel is brand new and clean, but lacks any of the charm associated with an historic city like Charleston. King Street is a two minute walk away, but the hotel is definitely not in the heart of the historic district. Some of the buildings surrounding the hotel are dilapidated, in fact, and the roof of the building directly across my 5th floor room was caved in completely - not the fault of Holiday Inn, but not exactly a pleasant site, either. When I visit Charleston again, I will stay at one of the hotels which are located closer to the heart of Charleston. April 5, 2013
