Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Customer service? I travel over 150 days a year. I understand how hotel's check out/check in process works. I also understand how the housekeeping schedule works. That being said I had a horrible experience dealing with your front desk personnel trying to check in. I arrived early that morning and asked if I could possibly check in early as my reservation had stated when arranged by our travel agent. The young lady gave me the usual spiel that check in was at 3pm. I explained that I understood, but that I would appreciate if they could possibly move me into another assigned room or ask housekeeping to put my room on their list to finish first. After over an hour I called to inquire if there had been any progress. I again mentioned that a early check in had been requested by our travel agent, and was once again given the "hotel policy with the "sorry try again at 3pm". After another hour or so I walked into the hotel hoping to speak to someone who could help. Once again I was rebuffed. Finally I called our travel agent, and she agreed to call and speak to her contact within the hotel's sales department. Amazingly enough I had my room within 5 minutes. While I appreciate that they were finally able to assist me checking in having to wait over 3 hours for a room that was probably ready hours before was beyond frustrating October 20, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stop on I70 I had such a great experience here I had to leave a review. I'd been traveling from Colorado to Pennsylvania and was a little concerned about finding a place to stay near Chicago/St. Lewis. Some of the ratings on other hotels were 1 star, with reviews like "the stole my car!" I contemplated driving straight through and sleeping in the car, but I was so tired I had to stop. Luckily I saw the Holiday inn in Columbia MO. The hotel is right next to I-70, easy on and off the highway. I called in from the road, and the CSR taking the reservation told me not to worry, they had plenty of rooms available. When I arrived I was greeted promptly, quickly given a room (and an upgrade to a King size bed), two drink tickets, a 10% discount in the bar or restaurant, and a pass to the breakfast bar. Keep in mind I'm a Gold Priority Club member and I'm sure that's why the upgrades, but I get the impression it can't hurt to ask. The room was updated, but the layout and the bathroom still had a very 1980s look. The furniture and carpet have been recently updated though. Because of the on-site restaurant you really don't have to leave the building, which is convenient if you're just passing through. The room was very quiet I couldn't hear much activity in the hallway. The breakfast bar was better than the standard Holiday Inn Express breakfast, with real eggs and bacon. About the only minus I can think of is that it's a fairly long distance from the parking lot to the elevators because of the large lobby area. I think this is because the hotel has a large conference area and was designed as a conference hotel (in fact on my way back from PA to CO there was a conference starting -I still was able to check in quickly and the above review still applies).
