Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mostly Good We were there for a Knight Templar Convent and spent three nights in the hotel. Our reception and banquet were held there. The hotel is quite old but has been upgraded and looks pretty good. It is large, in two separate buildings and all our group were not in the same building. The room was clean and comfortable and we slept well. However, there was a major issue on Friday morning when two workmen, totally unannounced, arrived at our room after I had gone to a meeting elsewhere in town. My wife was still in the room. They opened the door without knocking but when they realized the room was occupied they shut it. She talked to them through the door and found out why they were there then called the desk which confirmed the work order. This was unacceptable as they should have knocked first. I also think that hotel management should have notified us that this was going to happen. At our banquet on Saturday night there was to be a cash bar an hour before dinner. The bar was not set up on time and it took almost 45 minutes into the cocktail hour before it was. In the meantime some of us went to the adjacent bar to get our drinks. This event was planned well in advance and the delay, which the hotel blamed on their bartender being sick, was inexcusable. I believe it also cost them some revenue as many in attendance chose not to walk to the bar. The banquet food was good as was the breakfast but it was nothing out of the ordinary. Overall our stay was good and we would stay there again but having stayed in three Holiday Inns the three weekends before where the service was better, this one suffers a bit. October 16, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smelly room My room smelled musty! On my last day there I noticed the ceiling had mildew all over it and the wall paper coming down in a corner. The toilet ran all night the first night. I did tell the desk and they had it fixed that day. That was a plus! My grandson spilled something on the bed so I wrote a note that I needed to have the sheets change and left $5.00 they took my five dollars changed the top sheets but not the bottom. I even put the note on the wet spot. I had to ask about the breakfast, staff should tell you about it when you check in. There was not anything in the room to give you information about it either. I seen it on the website or I would have never known. I did tell the desk of the smell, mildew and sheets when I checked out, they were sympathetic but were unable to adjust my bill because I booked through a third party. It was easy to get to where I needed to go. The employees were friendly. October 13, 2014

Housekeepers were great and room was great. It had a large round tub to take a comfortable bath. Bed was comfortable. Denfintaly will stay here again if in the area. Out of all the Holiday Inn's I have stayed at far the best one ever. October 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal for Cape Fear Hospital visitors We chose this hotel because of its locality, directly across from hospital. We did not expect the terrific service and courteous attention we received. We were staying here for hospital location but would return to this facility for any purpose thanks to our experience. We were also pleasantly surprised that we were offered a discounted rate due to the fact that our son was hospitalized across street. We did not ask for this, the staff was aware of the reason for our stay and booked our room at a very reasonable rate. The included daily buffet breakfast was also a treat, delicious and plentiful.
