I was traveling on business, and ended up in Fresno. I saw the Holiday Inn logo and thought it would mean a quality full service hotel at a reasonable price, as it always has before. I called central reservation, and booked for the night. I was told that, since it was after 6 p.m., I would be locked in to the room and I would be charged for the night no matter what.
A minute later, I walked into the hotel. When I checked in, they told me the air conditioning was out and that "they are working on it." I was told they could put fans in my room, if need be, but it might be repaired shortly.
I went out to dinner. I came back. The AC was still not working, and I was told again that "they are working on it." I got to my room and found out it was 90 degrees. I called to have the window opened, and to ask for a fan. An hour and a half later, I had to call again. Finally, with the fan and the window open, the temperature in the room got to about 85 and I was able to sleep for an hour or two. I could not wait to get out of there.
The next morning, the new person at the front desk finally revealed the truth--that the AC had been out since four days before. It would not be repaired for six more days, because they were waiting for delivery of a part.
The central reservation line should never have booked a person into this hotel that whole week. They should never have held me to the "locked in your reservation after 6 p.m." provision. And they should have been honest when I checked in that the AC could not be repaired and they should have given me the option to leave at no charge.
This was one of the worst nights I have ever spent in a hotel. It calls into question the integrity of this whole Fresno operation. Corporate Holiday Inn has a piece of this for scheduling people into this place under these conditions.

I was scheduled to stay 4 days and pulled out after two. I am a platium IHG stayer and after numerous attempts to get soem service in regards to the room being too hot, and no compliance I left. The room was nice, the service and food at restaurant was good and this would have been a pleasnat experience had the room not been over 80 degrees all the time and there was attempts to repair and we were even moved to an alternate room but it was apparent after speaking to staff upon checkout that the staff was aware of the non cooling/ ventilation problem and the elevators not woorking but just lied about it. I aksed what they were going to do about and they just shrugged as if we hadnt spoken. The property needs to be remodeled in regards to the air conditioning / elevators and would be a nice property. Also it needs to be noted that perosns coming here do not need to go outside especially after dark due to the heavy presense of homeless and transiet persons.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Monette69 Buffet breakfast rocks
We take frequent weekend getaways and had never explored Fresno. We also came to see an Elvis tribute artist playing at the hotel.
Yes, there are issues with homeless outside the hotel, but the key swipe at the side door was functional and the entrances were secure. The parking gargage could use a major cleaning. Saw a city worker power washing the ramp into the garage and the hotel should take a hint and complete the job within their property.
The servers seems overwhelmed at times with tour groups to the point where diners were getting up to serve themselves coffee, but the breakfast was an outstanding value with fresh berries, many cereas, Tropicana OJ was great and typical hot items. Evening soup and salad bar was also excellent (only $7.95)
Our room #322 overlooked a major bus stop and we couldn't really enjoy our balcony, but not every view can be a scenic vista.
I would have liked to use the stairs to access my 3rd floor room instead of waiting for the elevvators, but I suppose this is a security policy to better monitor people in the hotel.

I would have given five stars but our a/c was broken. They tried to fix it but were unable and ended up bringing us a fan, other than that it was a great hotel with great service.

Very friendly and helpful front desk and dining staff. Efficient, quick and courteous! Quiet comfortable room and very comfortable beds. Located a short distance off of the highway it is easy to get to this property and then get back onto the highway for business or pleasure. Third or fourth stay at this property over the years and they haven't failed me yet.

The location I would not recommend, very scary, surrounded by homeless people camping out across the street at City Hall! Loud at night with drunks walking the streets, no where to walk to to eat besides the Holiday Inn and the Casino next door, everything closes at 5pm downtown. I did not feel safe at this location, most of the staff was friendley and helpful, beds were comfortable,A/C not working in some rooms, business office out of order, etc.!

Overall very poor experience. Parking is in underground garage and it was always creepy, especially at night. The hotel needs a security guard presence, otherwise street walkers and anyone else wonders around and it is "creepy" and "unsafe". The first room they tried to put me in was not acceptable. It was down a short hall immediately near the soda machines and ice dispenser. This was very unsafe and unacceptable location. They did move me to another room. The new room had the heat stuck on and multiple times all we got from the desk was, it takes three hours to cool off. So five hours later we requested maintenance look at the stuck heat. They spent time and unstuck the vent and then at least we had cooler air circulation. The also delivered a fan immediately so that tells you they know they have a problem. But this hotel knows they have a heating/cooling problem because I saw that type of write up in the past, but they don't seem to fix the problem. Housekeeping did not deliver extra towels as we only had two to begin with and they never did get us more towels. Not good when you have to shower multiple times in a day. Lastly, their so called business office had two computers and one did not work and the printer failed to print. Because creepy people can wander in from the basement garage and go up and down the elevator this hotel has a very unsafe feel and I was watching my back at all times. I recommend you do not stay here.
