I wouldn't stay at this HI hotel again because of its location. There were no restaurants around the hotel and if there were some you could walk to you wouldn't because there were so many street people laying and roaming around. I felt safe in the hotel because they had security walking around and it didn't feel safe. The staff was friendly. the food was not very good and they had a small menu. My room appeared nice until i heard water dripping on the floor from the sink. I reported it in the morning and they said someone would take care of it. When I returned 13 hours later I asked the front desk if it had been taken care of. They said they didn't know and to call them if it wasn't fixed. It had not been repaired so I called the front desk. They said they'd look for a comparable room and move me. About 20 minutes later they called and said they didn't have a comparable room with the same bed. I felt I had given them over 13 hours to take care of the problem and nothing had been done and I was suppose to be ok with a room type I didn't reserve. I told them I would put a trash can under it to catch the water. They said ok. This sealed the deal and I won't be back and I will recommend to my colleagues they not stay there either.

Summertime in Fresno is not the time for AC repairs. Dispite our efforts to cool the room, the front desk moved us to another room because "the air was not turned on" in our original room, . We then waited 3 hours for the second room to cool down. Only after the second call to the front desk, were we told that they monitored the temperature of the rooms at the front desk and their AC system was "not working to 100% capacity". They did bring us a fan which made the night semi-tolerable.
Also there were few restraunts located within walking distance which was strange for a downtown area. Additionally, the number of homeless people downtown made it uncomfortable to walk around downtown.

This was my second try at staying in this hotel. I attempted to stay here at the end of June but left due to no A/C. So I figured 2 months later surely this must be resolved. Upon arrival I was given a note stating that the A/C is working to its greatest ability and I should do my part by keeping the drapes closed and that fans are available. After reading this I cringed anticipating the night to come. But was told by the front desk staff that it does indeed cool off after the heat of the day. So decided since Im here might give it a shot since I typically wouldn't be back to my room until after 5. Well got to my room and it was a warm 78 degrees. So turned on the fan that I received from the front desk. After a rather unpleasant night I awoke to a sweltering 85 degree room. Decided that was it and checked out that morning. Never Again!

Sorry,it took awhile to get back to you but I have been working 12 to 19 hour days since I returned.
I wanted to just say Thank You, and to tell you that a lady at the front desk there was" Heaven Sent".
She going above and beyond to not only understand you but to help you solve the problem.
It may not be a big deal to some but being in a heat wave and near record breaking 19days over 100° heat, a refrigerator in your room is a Big Deal to me and my Wife. I think her name is Shelia, she explained the policy and made sure we were put on the list for one. Then the next morning without me asking, Shelia assured me I would have it that day, apologized for it not being there the day I asked, and upon Our return to the room that hot evening it was there. Ready for use.
She took the time to exlpain the parking problem, gave us parking passes.
She explained the breakfast tickets and inquired later if we enjoyed it.
And she even remembered my name 3 days later, making us feel like Family at home there.
Yes,we will booked there for the 2014 Prince Hall Masonic Convention especially if she is still there to greet us.
Wish you could hire more people with her attitude and willness to want to be of service to the public.
The Manager even stopped his work to make us breakfast tickets since the front desk had just run out as We were checking in, that was special too. His crew rocks!!!

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone ever. The Front Desk was horrible. The A/C was out and I was never phoned by the hotel, another family member told me. When I called the gal the hotel to confirm she said "Well I do not know what to tell you", there are other hotels in the area! I was driving and had to look for another hotel at night in the dark! By the time I did find a room, it was the last one and it was smoking. I ended up with a migraine! When we finally checked into the hotel the next day- My room did not have a working phone and a broken shower head. I was told Maintenance would be called but it never was. The room was a oven but hey I had a fan blowing all night - NO SLEEP as a result.
Someone mentioned they saw a rodent, so I was freaked out all night! I was never offered a darn thing for my troubles :(

Staff is excellent. Restaurant is much better. The lack of air conditioning in August is inhumane. This has been an issue for over a year. Use at your own risk.

Upon arriving at the hotel i over heard to guests wondering if the power was back on... not a good way to start. The monitor at the reception desk was sitting on a plain cardboard box... not a good first impress. Hotel staff was friendly and i never got the feeling of "your only talking to me because the hotel told you to" feeling. As i made my way to me room i got the eerie horror feel walking down the dimly lit with random custodian door left open. If i wasn't so tired i would have probably left but i choose to endure the night. definitely not choosing this one again.

Even though the temperatures in Fresno during my stay were hot (100+) it was cool and relaxing in the hotel. I remain extremely pleased with the service and consideration offered by the facility's staff.
Melissa, who staffed the front desk on Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2013, especially impressed me with her professionalism and customer service.

Carpet in room appeared to be worned and need replaced, Carpet in hallways need to be replaced. Very low water pressure in room (washbasin). Odor in hotel smells if though the facilites have been closed for long period of time. Food (waffle) that I ordered in the dinning room was not consumerabl due to being improperly prepaired (Hard) and had to be returned.

Upon our arrival, we experienced some problems with the rooms we were assigned to. But all employees at front desk especially Melissa were able to solve all problems and went even beyond what we were expecting. The staff of this hotel deserves a big 5 star. No doubt that with some renovations, this hotel will be a success with the quality of their employees and the location downtown.

The property was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were a little too firm for me, but the worst part was the Internet was unusable. I ended up using my Verizon hotspot for all my network connections.

Started my stay on a Wednesday. As soon as I checked in noticed my room was warm. Decided to go to dinner and hoped my room would cool down. Got back and no change in temp.. If anything it got a little warmer. Called front desk and they informed me a/c wasnt working. They did bring a fan to my room and was told would be fixed tomorrow. Next day arrived to my room and hotter than day before. Was told being worked on now and will be cooler in a couple of hours. Never did fix it. Third day in still not fixed and kept being promised that it would be fixed. Finally decided that was enough and checked out. Would have appreciated if they would have been upfront and said not sure when will be fixed. Also after speaking with employees was told a/c never works!

From a complimentary glass of wine after my arrival, to a complimentary real breakfast the next morning, through the staff's flexibility in giving me a little extra time for check out — so I could cool off with a swim after walking back to the hotel in 100° weather, wearing a suit! — this was a fine experience. Many thanks.

I had amost given up on this location because the breakfast food and service were bad to say the least. Thanks for this wonderful change and I will be staying here evry trip from now on.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ScottieM Sleeping in my car would have been more comfortable.
I was traveling on business, and ended up in Fresno. I saw the Holiday Inn logo and thought it would mean a quality full service hotel at a reasonable price, as it always has before. I called central reservation, and booked for the night. I was told that, since it was after 6 p.m., I would be locked in to the room and I would be charged for the night no matter what.
A minute later, I walked into the hotel. When I checked in, they told me the air conditioning was out and that "they are working on it." I was told they could put fans in my room, if need be, but it might be repaired shortly.
I went out to dinner. I came back. The AC was still not working, and I was told again that "they are working on it." I got to my room and found out it was 90 degrees. I called to have the window opened, and to ask for a fan. An hour and a half later, I had to call again. Finally, with the fan and the window open, the temperature in the room got to about 85 and I was able to sleep for an hour or two. I could not wait to get out of there.
The next morning, the new person at the front desk finally revealed the truth--that the AC had been out since four days before. It would not be repaired for six more days, because they were waiting for delivery of a part.
The central reservation line should never have booked a person into this hotel that whole week. They should never have held me to the "locked in your reservation after 6 p.m." provision. And they should have been honest when I checked in that the AC could not be repaired and they should have given me the option to leave at no charge.
This was one of the worst nights I have ever spent in a hotel. It calls into question the integrity of this whole Fresno operation. Corporate Holiday Inn has a piece of this for scheduling people into this place under these conditions.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mike0381 No cooling and service
I was scheduled to stay 4 days and pulled out after two. I am a platium IHG stayer and after numerous attempts to get soem service in regards to the room being too hot, and no compliance I left. The room was nice, the service and food at restaurant was good and this would have been a pleasnat experience had the room not been over 80 degrees all the time and there was attempts to repair and we were even moved to an alternate room but it was apparent after speaking to staff upon checkout that the staff was aware of the non cooling/ ventilation problem and the elevators not woorking but just lied about it. I aksed what they were going to do about and they just shrugged as if we hadnt spoken. The property needs to be remodeled in regards to the air conditioning / elevators and would be a nice property. Also it needs to be noted that perosns coming here do not need to go outside especially after dark due to the heavy presense of homeless and transiet persons.

We take frequent weekend getaways and had never explored Fresno. We also came to see an Elvis tribute artist playing at the hotel.
Yes, there are issues with homeless outside the hotel, but the key swipe at the side door was functional and the entrances were secure. The parking gargage could use a major cleaning. Saw a city worker power washing the ramp into the garage and the hotel should take a hint and complete the job within their property.
The servers seems overwhelmed at times with tour groups to the point where diners were getting up to serve themselves coffee, but the breakfast was an outstanding value with fresh berries, many cereas, Tropicana OJ was great and typical hot items. Evening soup and salad bar was also excellent (only $7.95)
Our room #322 overlooked a major bus stop and we couldn't really enjoy our balcony, but not every view can be a scenic vista.
I would have liked to use the stairs to access my 3rd floor room instead of waiting for the elevvators, but I suppose this is a security policy to better monitor people in the hotel.
