Hotel was very busy at check-in but we were in ASAP. Room was very nice, clean, spacious. Due to weather conditions and driving about 11 hrs, we decided to go to the in- hotel restaurant. Great choice!!! Atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. We were in the bar area because the dining room was closed due to a large party. Food was delicious, We can recommend the fried catfish and the grilled shrimp. Breakfast the next morning was the in-hotel buffet, also delicious, fresh with plenty of choices. Wait staff for both dinner & breakfast were very attentive and pleasant. We would love to return here.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SSSM Great service
After riding my motorcycle in the cold rain for 6 hours I arrived at the HI. The staff was welcoming and took great care of me. I asked for an additional hair dryer for the room at which point the desk staff looked at me funny (I wear a burr hair cut). I explained I needed to dry much of my equipment out and I do it with the blow dryers. Within ten minutes of getting settled in my room an employee showed up with another blow dryer. Great service.
I ate in the restaurant and the food and drinks were excellent.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mckees1 small room and no "perks"
I stayed in this hotel one week and had a nice two bed room and free breakfast and a free drink every night. I came back the next week and got a small one bed room that smelled of smoke and no breakfast or drink. I am staying again in Joplin this week at a different hotel with a nice room, free breakfast and three free drinks every night.

I had a broken water line at home and stayed here for two nights during repairs. The staff...Jesse, Taylor, Brandi, Donna, Geena, and Malorie were so helpful and friendly! I couldn't sleep at night so I would go down and visit Becky. Such a knowledgeable lady, very amusing and so helpful! I also had the opportunity to talk to several of the maintenance men...Tim, Wes, Mike, Brian and Aaron, they seem to really enjoy their jobs! The manager, Mr. Lutz, such an amusing character! Someone really knew what they were doing when they hired him! I give this hotel a 10! The service, hotel and food are the greatest and if I ever break my water line again...I will stay here!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by zigggy Noisy and cold water
I was put by the freeway and even with the fan running the whole time it was still quite noisy. The water gets warm but not hot. The food was good but became mundane ea morning. I had suggested buying a spoodle for the syrup but that hasn't happened yet. It is very awkward to get syrup out. When I brushed my arm under the sneeze guard there was gross stuff that rubbed off on my shirt.. Newspapers are only available downstairs not left outside my door.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bluegill Priority Club rewards not worth it
When i called in to make the reservation with my reward points everything was fine. At the check in the staff was rude and could care less about my stay. I was put in the back of the hotel in almost a closet type hallway. I had requested a ground floor room which they had agreed; I was put on the second floor. Very disappointed. Most of my earlier stays had been with the Holiday Inn Express. Must be a different company at the Holiday Inn. I will not be back.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by tman52wooly A bit disappointed
The cable was disconnected from the tv in our room.
The bathroom floor was sticky although appeared to have been mopped.
There was only one coffee cup.
It was a quiet room considering we were only two rooms away from the exit.
VERY well lit parking lot. We were able to check our vehicle and trailer off and on without having to leave our room.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gonefishn30 Older but updated and well maintained
I only spent one night at this hotel, but it was a great value. To have a full service Holiday Inn for under $100.00 a night is not common. This is an older property but they have kept the rooms updated. I did notice a limitless odor in the hallways, maybe the carpets could use a shampoo. Bar was a nice feature so we did not have to drive, only ate the continental breakfast so I cannot comment on the restaurant. The mattresses seemed newer but to firm for my liking.

The room was fine. The desk person was abrupt, and seemed disintertested in her job. Charged my dinner to my credit card, then received a call from the front desk saying I didn't put the correct room number on my charge to the room. Explained that I didn't charge to the room, and that the person next to me , who I didn't know, ordered the same food. Desk clerk just said "Oh" and said she would check later. Last I heard from her. Food and Beverage staff good.

The front desk staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
There were a couple of minor issues: The room water temperature was never as high as I would have liked, in fact, a couple of mornings it was difficult to take a shower, due to coolness of water. I mentioned this to the front desk, but it did not improve.
Neither ice machine on my floor worked for the time I was there - 9 days. For a hotel in the category of a Holiday Inn, one would expect better.
In-house restaurant served good meals.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Armstrong Go elsewhere
Upon arriving at the hotel I was informed that my reservation for a king non-smoking room was "downgraded" to a room with 2 full size beds. When I asked "why make a reservation when you get whatever is available" I was informed by the staff that it is "first come, first serve and they do their best to give you what you requested". I realized it was no use discussing this as the staff was more interested in talking to the gentlemen loitering in the lobby than customer service. When I walked in to my room I was immediately met with the worst smell of mildew and stale cigarette smoke. I am a priority club member and am loyal to Holiday Inn whenever available, but the next time I am in this city I will stay elsewhere where they honor reservations and their reward members with their requests as well as proper customer service.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didi7 Room on ground floor!
When I made the reservation, I requested a room on the ground floor. I am aware of that rooms on the ground floor not always available. When I checked in, I asked if a room on the ground floor was available. The front desk clerk said no, without checking. When I received my envelope with the room keys I saw that room 177 was scratched out and my new room # 218 was filled in.
I am very disappointed that the clerk!

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, which is probably the 2 most important things. We enjoyed our stay and will be back the next time we are in the area.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AndyUnhappy Really bad experence
I have stayed at many Hoilday Inn, and other Intercontinental, properties over the past few years, this is by far the worse of the bunch. The entrance and lobby are very attractive and inviting, everything beyond that was old, in poor repair and dirty. The bed was old and uncomfortable, carpets dirty, restroom dirty and in poor condition. To top it off there was no hot water the next morning, when I called the desk to ask about it they were aware of the problem but dismissive. I would not recommend this property to anyone, most Hoilday Inn and Staybridge properties are far superior to this one.

It's just not a friendly Holiday Inn. No USA Todays, no continental breakfast or any kind of breakfast, front desk never friendly not that we've been there that many times but each time we have been there...
Old and not taken care of halls and outside. Room OK---no microwave, no coffee maker....
We go this route 2-3 times a year and are seriously thinking of not going there the next time we pass through in May.....We hate not to cause we love Holiday Inns and our Priority points.

The pictures on their site match up to what you see in person upon check in. Wish I was able to check out the restaurants, but never had the time however I did smell the food and boy does it make a person hungry. Rooms were very clean, selection on what type of pillow you prefer to use and never heard another guest when I was in my room. Originally I'd selected a smoking room, but upon entering the 4th floor then the actually room I requested a non smoking room as they don't seem to be aired out. Everything else was wonderful and the location is right next to the freeway. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by suprisedatI77 Poor experience
We booked by phone for 7 people in two rooms and requested 2 full sized beds per room. We would be arriving after 6:00 and would guarantee our stay. The professional helping us said that was what we would get and sent the emailed confirmation. When we checked in it was not mentioned that it would be a bed and a couch. When we returned to the desk they informed me that Holiday Inn policy does not guarantee what type of bed we would have or that they should inform the guest at check in. Also the fine print on the confirmation would confirm the policy if I bothered to read it. I asked if other non smoking rooms were available with two regular beds. They said they did not have any clean ones. Even though they knew we had seven staying we had to request for a maintenance man to bring a bed in a bag to both rooms. I have stayed in a number of Holiday Inns and have never experienced the level of unprofessional service at the front desk we experienced there. Just tell me it was a mistake don't feed me a line. The late evening clerk was the redeeming factor to the stay. She was very helpful and pleasant. We stayed in a Holiday Inn the next evening and experienced the great service we have grown to expect . I would drive through this town before I would ever risk staying in that Holiday Inn.

This property is old & the room I had was in poor condition. Bed was not comfortable, worn carpet, furniture in tough shape, inadequate electrical outlets, etc.
The ice machine on the floor I was on (2nd) was out of order, and it appeared that it hasn't been working for quite some time. Hallway carpet was very worn and in need of replacement.
Not a good value - overpriced & I won't be staying here on my next trip to Joplin.
