Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by smell in hallways and breakfast Hi, I think we stayed in Section A and we felt that there was a smell in your hallways that lingered into the rooms. Also, it was probably my problem, but I called the front desk to ask about a continental breakfast. The individual told me that you did not, but if you have a restaurant, I would have appreciated if they would have mentioned it. We were travelling and just in and out. Thanks! September 5, 2014

On the brighter side, the bedding was standard Holiday Inn and clean, but it did not make us rest any easier and it was difficult to sleep knowing we were in a substandard lodging. September 2, 2014

I usually make Holiday Inn my first choice as I did in Joplin, but now I wish I had shopped around. The lobby looks really nice and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. This location needs a makeover of their rooms like no other. I was very put off by the dirtiness of the room. I can only hope my bed clothes had been laundered. There was cobwebs in the corner of our room and dust a quarter inch thick on one of the walls (see photos). The hair dryer didn't work and the TV was intermittent. I had to call the front desk to figure out how to watch regular TV and the front desk helped me out greatly. The TV seemed to work my first night there. When I woke up the next day, we could only get about 6 channels, none of them kids channels to appease my 3 and 6 year olds. When we left the hotel that morning I reported the TV problem and the front desk clerk said she would have a tech come look. 10 hours later, when I return to my room, still no TV progress. They immediately sent an engineer and he said the TV was out of sync with the cable box and fixed it. The next morning, cartoon channels, but just static sound. After a few attempts the sound finally came on. Now to the bathroom, the toilet did not flush very good, so you had to flush 3 times to get everything down. The bathtub had a very slow drain so you took a shower in ankle deep water. Clean the drain already! I'm not sure the standard of cleaning the bathroom while the same guest is there, but I don't think they did clean it in between nights. They just took our towels and left new ones. The cost I paid was about twice as much I would expect to pay with this type of facility. September 2, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Damp, Musty smell; comfortable beds Damp, Musty smell; Old hotel with lumpy carpet, peeling paint and much needed face lift to the hallways and updating to the entire room. Had trouble with entry keys to both rooms we had. One room had to have the door handle completely removed and fixed. They just moved us to another room when we had trouble with the 2nd room we used. The service from the check-in to the maintenance was great, the entry and commons area very nice. Breakfast was nothing special, but it was ok. September 1, 2014

I ask for holiday inn express what I got was a holiday inn which was an old hotel that the carpet was in need of repair the panel on the inside of elevator had been pulled off , the only food place that was open was the bar, the food was not that great I would not stay at this hotel again August 31, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't judge a book by the cover. This is among the oldest of hotels in the IHG system that I have stayed at. My initial impression as I entered the parking lot was not a good one. However, the staff was extremely friendly, the interior of the hotel was updated and clean, and the room was very quiet and comfortable. The property was conveniently located for our visit. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hot Rods in the Parking Lot They hotel was hosting a hot rod show - nobody asked if we were a part of the show so they could but us as far away from the engine revving - they put us in a room on the ground floor on the side of all the cars. When I complained to the manager on duty the response was "It is their event and there is little we can do." really -- if the event was being held inside and was too loud wouldn't you mention it to them. So the next day, the battery in our door died so we couldn't get in - we waited 30mins in the hall for engineering to break into our room. Only to find that housekeeping knew the door didn't work and never reported it because the room hadn't been refreshed - so know at 8:30pm we had to wait for housekeeping to clean the room. After another 30 mins - the manager finally called (no she didn't take the time to come to the room to make her personal apologize) and at 9:00 she offered us dinner in the hotel restaurant - and again we had to listen to hot rods in the parking lot till after 10pm. I have already contacted Priority Club to get my points reversed for the days we didn't spend and the 2 days that were way below the Holiday Inn standards. August 25, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Smell The whole complex has a bad smell, like water damage from a leaking roof, it permeates the whole place including the rooms, not the normal smell you might get from a Holidome swiming pool complex. The front desk was aware of it because they had people relocating to different parts of the building to try and get away from it but was no better smelling elseware. August 14, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Reservation Failure I reserved a king bed room in plenty of time but upon arrival the hotel informed me that they did not realize they were out of my room style. They gave me a room with 2 twin beds and when I expressed my dissapointment the attendant said if I was unhappy she was more than williing to let me go someplace else....at 11:30pm right after I flew in. They wrote the wrong room number on my key and I attempted to get in someone elses room disturbing that guest. Not a pleasent experience. August 14, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Joplin Holiday Inn room 400 Booked a room on points at this hotel last weekend. My son was attending a showcase baseball camp at an area camp which was very important to him. Room was booked on points as my husband is a platinum member. Upon arrival I am told that due to unexpected stay overs we have been moved from our king room with a pull out sofa bed to a room with a single queen bed. There are three of us. Tiffany the front desk representative tells me if the could accommodate us they would but the unexpected stay overs mean this is our only option even though night booked by platinum member. She says that maybe they can find a roll a way bed. I am told my husband will receive "a few extra points" for the change. I let Tiffany know my sinus 6'3" who will need the roll a way. We take the elevator to the room... The elevator door on right side is missing its fake wood paneling and has glue swirls only. The hallway and room reek of cigarette smoke. The employee in our room has a roll a way bed for us.... It is all of 5 foot long and clearly for a small child. He looks at my son and states I need to get a bigger bed. I tell him I told Tiffany how tall my son was and he Sid she never to,d him. He gets us a twin bed that my sons feet hang off of. I ask if the too is a smoking room and he says no. It smells of old cigarettes. The carpet s damp and sticky. The room s extremely small and cramped. Never stay in room 400. I went into the bathroom and as you can see from the photos there isn't even a vanity to set cosmetics or toiletries on and the shelf above the commode is chipped and cracked. The bathroom light made noise when turned on. I had to actually connect the handset cord to phone and plug phone in to wall to call front desk and ask Tiffany for an extra towel since their were 3 of us and only two towels. Kleenex box was empty in bathroom and worst of all old urine in the commode!! I actually picked up pieces of plastic and trash out of floor. When my husband called hotel Tiffany tried to tell him I misunderstood and that he was not bing charged any points since we got bumped from our room by unexpected stay overs that didn't have reservations. Most miserable night I've ever spent in a hotel and never been treated so rudely August 13, 2014
